NFL Week 8: Raiders (0-6) @ Browns (3-3) - 4:25 PM, CBS

Yo b00bie y u ignore?

It wasn't meant to be a shot, more like a "you know this posters rep isn't wholly negative" type of thing.

Not sure why people think criticism means brushing aside every single good thing that happened.

It's not wholly unreasonable to take wins against the Raiders with a grain of salt.

Funny because it is EXACTLY what was said... Essentailly, "don't laud the good things because.... it's the Raiders."

I mean...it's the Raiders...I don't have enough hyperbole to describe how bad they are. I know some people are applauding certain aspects of the team, ie Haden played well, or whatever but...it's the Raiders.

No, it isn't. I figured you weren't really taking a shot at me and was kind of dicking around, but I was and still am confused as to what that meant. :chuckle: Whateva.

Will be interesting to see how they play vs the Bucs. Third awful team in a row. So far they've played less than stellar games vs such competition. Will it be 3 in a row? My whole point was I worry when we start playing real teams again if the team's quality of play has fallen so far.

What is so unreasonable about taking the Raiders positives with a grain of salt?

Also:

Mike....Y U NO HAPPY AFTER THE WIN?!

Taking everything with a grain of salt is the crux of my point, which I believe b00bt00b touched on.

Fair enough. Would you then consider the Browns' two losses with a grain of salt, along with the other wins? I can understand a point that emphasizes taking things with a grain of salt in general.

My point is that the framing of opinions on the Saints win was, "well, the Saints aren't really that good, I guess."

It has brought me to the perception that all wins are discounted and losses magnified. If all of this is taken with a grain of salt, the team is 4-3, which is indicative of a good team. Unless we're only taking good things with a grain of salt and bad things with a 50 pound salt crystal. This hypocritic take is ho-humming wins and looking at losses like "business as usual" for this team.

The Saints are light years ahead of the Raiders, whether they are great or not. They have talent, a franchise QB, and just clobbered the Packers.

I don't know how else to communicate my point. I'm glad they won. I'm happy they won. I'm quite concerned, however, with the second half of the season when they face some real teams seeing as we have played badly vs two winless squads these past two weeks.

Do not know how else to say that nor do I see how that is some kind of surprising statement.

A loss to the Jaguars is far more concerning than a win against the Raiders, IMO.

One raises a ton of red flags, the latter is "doing what you're supposed to do."

As for the Saints, I don't recall there being a lack of over-reactive posts about how good this team looked in that game and projections toward their future.

Pretty sure that's how the Hoyer is a top ten QB debate got started. :chuckle:

I'm not sure that you did communicate that point, but I do get it now that you've said it. Not sure I would've reacted to your post if it was presented as it is now. I will, however, identify that we've seen a couple of different Browns teams this season. The loss last week is a concern as is poor offense yesterday (defense was far from "playing badly"); however, wins against the Saints and clobbering Pittsburgh (who dropped the Colts yesterday) was at the hands of the same team. In short, we're not yet sure what mold the Browns will settle into, but if you're concerned because the play in the last two games it's fine I suppose. They are the most recent points of reference. BUT where I differ from you (I think) is in the idea that the team is also capable of playing very well against teams that are good this year.

Great. It's not like people aren't happy they won. It's that we're not exactly excited or throwing a parade over this game because really they've now looked awful vs two winless teams and squeaked by one and lost to the other. That is definitely a cause for concern and not something to be excited about.

I'm happy about the win. I'm not happy with how they looked because I think these past two weeks bode badly for the future. Am I allowed to have that take? Sheesh.

I think that's basically what I just said.

I'm not fist pumping or anything over this win. I watched the game, was like "Ok, good, we won..." but the feeling was very very different than after they won vs the Saints and Steelers. I'd say Tennessee, but the fact that it was a historic comeback kind of hyped us all up and by the team we blew out the Steelers we'd all forgotten about that game.

Ha, what? He was beat by about 10 yards up field. Not sure why you're so defensive anyway. I've been one of Mingo's biggest supporters.

He's a liability with limited arm mobility.

I was defensive because your comments were borderline insane.

Mingo played probably his best game as a Brown and you're saying his presence is hurting the team. What game were you watching?
