NFL Week 8: Raiders (0-6) @ Browns (3-3) - 4:25 PM, CBS

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Nothing about the Browns' run defense? Nothin about the 4 fumbles? Hoyer sacked once?

Shocking.

They finally won a game they were supposed to win!

That's actually huge improvement.

The defense was really good. The offense was bad. The Raiders are terrible. High fives and ass slaps all around.

The defense controlled the game. The offense eventually caught on. The Browns were never down in the game.

It was a win. It was never really in the balance; the Raiders managed to put up 6 in the time that mattered. No game is guaranteed, even if you make yourself believe it is because, IYO, the Browns "can't be good".

The team is missing 2 impactful defensive linemen and their all-pro Center, but that doesn't matter. The defense held the Raiders to 71 rushing yards combined. There were 4 fumbles and an interception.

It wasn't a tremendous game, but the Browns' defense made it downright ugly for Oakland.

The Raiders have only lost handily one game all season and it came at the hands of the Dolphins.

They played up to opponents like New England (defeated by 7 points), San Diego (defeated by 3 points), and hung in against Arizona (defeated by 11 points).

They are not a horrible team. They made questionable play calls and turned the ball over which is partially why they lose so many games. They do have talent, though.

This is a win in the NFL. It is not to be taken for granted. Especially speaking as a Cleveland fan, we know how hard those can be to come by.

I mean...it's the Raiders...I don't have enough hyperbole to describe how bad they are. I know some people are applauding certain aspects of the team, ie Haden played well, or whatever but...it's the Raiders.

Great. It's not like people aren't happy they won. It's that we're not exactly excited or throwing a parade over this game because really they've now looked awful vs two winless teams and squeaked by one and lost to the other. That is definitely a cause for concern and not something to be excited about.

But fuck, let's all just "lighten up" and throw a party and not act concerned over the numerous very concerning factors regarding this team. Not trying to be facetious...it's just endlessly obnoxious not being able to express anything negative without being told, "This is Cleveland, be happy with a win!" I'm happy about the win. I'm not happy with how they looked because I think these past two weeks bode badly for the future. Am I allowed to have that take? Sheesh.

I'm not happy we won because it's Cleveland. I'm happy because I've spent 6 years here listening to people complain about not pulling it off in the end. Well, they pulled it off in the end and it's being treated like a loss. Your defense dominated and you're still unable to give credit.

The depression doled out in these game threads on Mondays is liken to sitting in a pediatric cancer center.

You're almost insufferable when people actually have criticism after a win, lets just be honest here.

Not everyone is going to go into a lengthy preamble about all the things they did well just to bring up the bad. There was plenty of bad yesterday along with the good, and the team has a ton of improving to do once their schedule gets real in the next few weeks.

Plus, Chris is gonna Chris....

The fuck is that supposed to mean? I've been one of the more positive posters on this board over the past year, and have been gobbling up Hoyer's cock along with everyone else all season long despite falling into a similar category of opinion as you, on Hoyer.

No idea what this means. You basically just took my side and then threw a shot at me at the end. Da fuq.

Vintage b00b.

My point is this. How is everything good that happened yesterday able to be brushed aside?

When we lose, there's pretty much a million things that can be and are pointed out as things that MUST be improved. Now when we're on the winning side of things, all good is disqualified because it's a bad team. To me, it's stupid.

You're going back to where you belong.

Strong, strong candidate for worst analogy of the week. :chuckle:

Who is brushing it aside?

He's simply not reading much into beating the Raiders, it's not exactly a out of the box idea.

I mean, we're all happy with a win, but there is just so much to improve on.

Good thing they don't share the disdain.

And my correlating feeling is insufferable :chuckle:

I was there last night. We always win when my girlfriend and I go together, so we always have an excellent time. She doesn't really understand football too deeply so she was dancing to the music and mimicking the ref's hand signals and all that, having a great time. This one just didn't make me happy though. I only got excited for maybe 5 or 6 plays the whole game; the rest of the time I was just unimpressed and not drunk. I analyzed their performance, she drank and danced. She watched the Browns in person correctly, I did not. :(

I actually am real interested in what it's like at the stadium after the renovations. Anyone notice any drastic differences?

Also, Tashaun Gipson leads the NFL in interceptions. I don't think that's made it here yet. Pretty impressive how he seems to constantly be near the ball.
