We should start a "Players I Was Wrong About" thread, so that everyone can own up to not being perfect arm chair evaluators of NFL talent. It would be the longest most boring thread in here.

I'll start.

Justin Gilbert

Who was wrong?

Everyone.

Danny Shelton

Who was wrong?

Everyone.
Now I remember AZ pimping the hell outta him. But we were all sold, anybody remember the video tweet when he pushed the whole OLine back in training camp?

Just another wasted pick.

Let's go with things we were dead right on, TRich (I was neutral to be honest, but still stupid as hell to take a RB very early), Weeden, Erving, Phil Taylor, all bum ass 1st round picks.

People were happy for Brady Quinn and maybe hyped about Manziel.

I'm generally a fan that just buys into what the team chooses to do unless I really hate a fucking pick like the Cam Erving one, or Phil Taylor one.

Baker and Myles are probably my all time favorite first round picks.

Joe Thomas and Alex Mack?

I root for every pick the Browns take. I'm not a football talent evaluator or scout and I have no aspirations to be one. I don't really see any pride or joy that can be derived from being the smartest prognosticator on an internet message board so I guess I really DGAF about who was right or wrong about which player, I just want the Browns to be right one of these days.

In that regard things seem to be looking up but we're at the bottom looking up with a huge hill to climb before we can even begin to think we're a legit franchise again. The early indicators are good but we'll see.

But if people want to gravedig to establish pissing rights over past statements I vote we establish a new thread and I'll just stay out of it.

I liked Shelton a pretty good bit, but I’m certain he would have become better in an organization that knew how to develop young players. I thought Malcom Brown was the best choice, but he went to New England later and still plays really well for them.

I think my biggest miss in recent memory was Mike Evans.

He was so slow looking and lumbering, catching such a limited tree with that dipshit at A&M. But he was way more athletic than I gave him credit for and turned into a fine player.

Players who I thought would be way better:

Marcus Mariota
RGIII
Xavier Su’a Filo

I really got more into the draft in 2007.

2007: Wanted Megatron but more than happy with Joe. Really thought Quinn was gonna be good.... :(

2008: No first.

2009: Honestly thought trading down for Mack was solid. Hated Sanchez.

2010: Haden was good.

2011: Wanted Cam Hayward over Phil Taylor. But Phil was ok. Injuries hurt him.

2012: Man oh man did I want Luck that year. Really wanted Griffin too. Richardson was kinda exciting. I did not want Blackmon. WEEDEN WAS THE WORST OMG. I remember his dumbass face coming on ESPN before they cut to break being like "OMGZ BROWNS ARE ON THE CLOCK" Such a feeling of dread... good god.

2013: I had no fucking clue. That draft was horrible right? Mingo had a couple flashes but terrible. I think I wanted Tavon Austin because he looked exciting.

2014: I wanted Mack. Easy to say now is probably want you're thinking but I remember watching those Buffalo tapes and thinking holy fuck boys. Trade down was ok... liked the extra first next year. I thought Gilbert would be at least an 8 year starting CB. Really didn't hate it at all. Low bust potential I figured... WELL FUCK ME. THEN MANZIEL... FUCKITY FUCK. I might have had enough beers by then to like actually be kinda in a fuck it lets go WRECK THIS LEAGUE. But by morning I was sober and depressed. I wanted Teddy. Which still would have been meh.

2015: Shelton was ok. I wanted Parker but then he had those comments. I did have a mancrush on Melvin Gordon. Loved watched him at Wisconsin. I didn't hate Cameron Erving but found it boring and sort of a waste, meant Mack was gonna be gone. I think my first thought was "well that is as safe as a pick as you can get." LMAO.

2016- HATED TRADING DOWN HATED IT. I wanted Wentz. Fucking Corey Coleman looked like an ok prospect but I was all Wentz and Bosa, Zeke, Ramsey. Then Coleman??? Fucking Coleman? At least it wasn't Paxton Lynch.

2017: Garrett no issues at all. None. Sorta thought about Trubisky but yeah... didn't want the risk. Peppers, I think I fell over but figured he was a good fit in Gregg Williams' scheme. Njoku seemed exciting. Overall no huge complaints. I do remember wanting OJ Howard to drop.

RGIII is tough. He was excellent his rookie year but never the same after shredding his knee vs. the Seahawks in 2012.

Wentz lol

Nah, I had him right behind Goff and pretty high up historically over the last decade or so.

I’d just take Goff over him, probably still would right now.
