This is more pathetic than Eli's Eyes and his hard-on for Perry Jones III.
Do you understand the business of recruiting at all and how much bs is involved ?
The point isn't how great this kid is or how much I like him as a player. The point is nobody outside KC heard of him, and so
it continues with naive comments like yours because you still don't know who he is and couldn't possibly understand how somebody that is good went that much under the radar.

the ignorance regarding this kid is understandable , but at least get your facts straight.
he was unranked by rivals & ranked #328 by 247 sports. this thread was created to make people like yourself aware of just how much of a sleeper he was...
he isn't anymore, unless you are blind.
those stats are ridiculously great as a 3rd or 4th option freshman who turned his program around immediately after being pulled from redshirt status because Self needed to use him this year instead of saving him to boost his program next season.
He could return to college, to ensure a high draft spot, personally I hope he gets a promise from Cavs and we get the steal of the draft in the 20's.
Picture this:
your Bill Self and you are at a Mokan Elite AAU game to see Jontay Porter and come away from the game talking about this kid that was clearly the best player on the floor named Ocahi Agbaji.
Self did a good job of keeping it under his hat for a short time but it wasn't long before the buzz started getting a little louder.
Nearly every hs coach in the entire city of Kansas City considered Agbaji the best player in his class, yet because he stood up against the corruption and favoritism of the AAU to coaches sons etc until that point, he stayed unknown nationally. Eventually his family realized he had to at least give the AAU a glimpse to get on somebodies radar outside of KC,
he went unranked and stayed completely under the radar until then.
After Self and Kansas realized Texas A&M gave him an offer, they immediately gave him one. 5 power conference schools gave him offers inside of 2 weeks.
keep on sleeping on him if you like.
I'm wide awake, and am confident I will be the one having the last laugh here.
Sorry, I gave what I thought was a troll thread a troll response. If you seriously have this guy as your third overall dude in this draft, behind just Zion and neck and neck with Barrett, then I don't know how to have a serious conversation about it.

If we get the third pick and take this dude, I might seriously consider revoking my fandom until we get an entirely new regime in here.

That's reasonable, given his limited body of work and limited role at Kansas up until now.
I believe if he continues on the path he's been on he will be there for the taking with the Houston pick.
I think if he gets a higher usage offensively as the season rolls and esp if it propels Kansas into a deep tournament run, several teams will have him in the lottery at minimum and he will get a 1st round promise to entice him to enter the draft this season.
The only hole in his game as of now is he needs to tighten up his handle some. Everything else is a very balanced fundamentally sound player
who can be developed into something just as good if not better than anyone in the top of this class except the freak of nature that Zion is.
If Barrett was a better defender and not a projected empty stats type, I would consider him the better prospect, but alas Barrett is a chump defensively.

I'll ignore all the other ludicrous stuff that was said in this thread. The only hole in his game is his handle?

His combined AST/STL/BLK total, in 26 minutes per game, is 2.0. As in 2 total across those 3 categories (.8 AST, .4 BLK, .8 STL). That is historically bad for a SG who would be considered a 1st rounder, let alone a lottery pick, let alone better than a prospect like Barrett.

Name one elite or All-Star 2 guard who doesn't do anything but score and rebound? Even someone like Klay Thompson evenly contributes across categories as more of a non creator (3.4 AST/STL/BLK), while being one of the greatest shooters of all time and an elite two way player.

Agbaji may see his role expand and it's possible he is a capable passer and creator but all he does right now is score layups or lobs in transition and shoot wide open 3's. His game is really one dimensional, at a position that is really hard to play at the NBA level. He has a nice set of tools but he is a ways away from being a lottery NBA talent.

I am guessing your are a Kansas fan?

Look the guy is now a legit NBA prospect from ranked around 300, that is awesome. But treating this board with knowledgeable sports fans, proven insiders, and frankly coaches and people that have worked in sports like idiots and you are the expert?

Yeah I see yourself getting banned. Slow down, show some respect, and seriously this is not the 2nd or 3rd best prospect.

He came out of nowhere to make himself a prospect, good for him, but if you are using a trajectory then he is a Lebron Jordan close which is not reasonable and not how you properly scout someone.

That's hilarious I thought the same thing and being the antagonist for Eli I thought I was having bad flashbacks.

Excited to see what he can do in 12 mpg off the bench in 2022 summer league before going overseas to star in the Italian B-League.

Your argument negates the fact that Agbaji doesn't have the ball in his hands half as much as Barrett does which definitely skews the dime rate which is avg.
I like to look at the per 40 not per game numbers because they give you a much more accurate read on what a player is doing/
But since you want to go that route, RJ's steal and block rate is the same and he is playing more with more opportunities to make defensive plays etc.
So after it's all said and done I guess they both suck by your standards.

So I jumped the gun on this one;he is returning to Lawrence as expected after a lackluster less productive drop in ltd use with more advanced players returning from injuries or other reasons I expect noone will be sleeping on him after his sophmore campaign. He has all the upside in the world and is a freak athlete.

Never saw this but I use per possession numbers, as it is a better way to compare production. Per minute is better than per game but team pace can skew things for players on different teams.

My first assessment of him was an accurate one though. So I stand by what has been previously said. He made the right decision going back, no we’ll see if he doesn’t get swallowed up by KU’s next recruiting class.
