You have to ask yourself why this guy doesn’t make an impact after being such a star in NY. I’d guess it’s the team, Qb and Coach. For Odell’s sake, let’s trade him. He deserves better.

He wasn't anything special his last year in NY either.

Since 2016 and his injury, he's played with two quarterbacks and under 3 coaches. He hasn't produced on par with expectations at all in either spot.

I brought this up in the rant thread too: how many teams would slot OBJ in as their #1 receiver if they signed him for nothing tomorrow? I started going down the list at halftime because I was still livid about the drop he had today. I quickly realized that his production doesn't come close to stacking up with his supposed peers.

Probably has something to do with having multiple season-ending injuries and simply not being the same player he used to be.

He deserves nothing.

Starting to look like he is the nfl version of melo/starburry with the sudden decline of his game and inability to contribute to winning after showing generational level talent/production his early years...

Most overpaid non-QB in the NFL.

It’s compounded by us using him as a glorified decoy. I thought he’d step into the routes ran by Landry. And he didn’t.

Last week in Minnesota Odell was toasting his defenders and getting wide open and Baker couldn’t hit him and now this week he suddenly doesn’t have it anymore?

He was targeted 3 times the entire game and people are saying that’s all he deserves but literally last week he got open multiple times including on a potential game sealing TD and his QB couldn’t get him the ball.

The thing with Odell is is starts with one simple question. Can he get open? The answer if you’ve watched him this season is a resounding yes.

So if he can get open why does he not get the ball?

3 targets today after running loose all game in Minnesota?

Is that part of the game plan or was he not getting open today? I saw him open more than 3 times today but he only got 3 targets.

Has any browns offense averaged this many ppg through 5 games? Genuinely asking

We make it look so damn hard to get the ball in his hands. Granted, he flat dropped a 4th down pass that he might have sprang for a TD, but you see a lot of teams constantly feeding their best WR and we make it look so difficult. I understand he opens things up for other guys, but our inability to attack the defense vertically appears to be the one weakness of this offense. When everything happens from the run game or short passes, it makes it difficult to over come penalties or get down the field in a hurry late in games.

Browns scored 42 points targeting him 3 times.

Maybe he just doesn't really matter that much to the Browns. Feels like the Browns simply use him as a decoy.

Was he a decoy last week in Minnesota?

It doesn’t feel that way, they do.

He runs decoy routes all the time. The Higgins TD? Heck, the Njoku TD only happened because he ran the other defender so deep by the time the ball was delivered that he blocked him out of the play entirely.

Odell does ridiculous things that aren’t stats. But, yeah. He’s a decoy. Just like Diggs was the decoy. Our play calling is geared to throwing underneath. I thought once Landry was down that Odell would get used the way Landry did.

The Legend of Odell in Cleveland has always been substantially greater than the player that is Odell

People are starting to come around on it, but a lot of times people beat around the bush and say things like "look everyone knows Odell is a great talent, but he and Baker aren't on the same page"

I didn't watch many Giants games because the NFC East is the most boring football division to me. But I have watched every snap Odell has taken as a Brown. And I do not agree that he is a great talent. I think he is pretty mediocre. If there is ever a play that isn't absolutely routine to make, he rarely makes it. And then even with the routine plays he is inconsistent on them.

I just don't think he's a good football player. Landry is our best WR and I don't think it's particularly close. it will be cool when he is off the Browns though to hear what the excuses are for why he doesn't produce in his next landing spot
