Getting Beckham involved with gadget plays and end arounds is a sneaky good job by Stefanski to keep OBJ happy with his touches considering Stefanski knows how much this is not going to be a high-volume passing offense.

Plus we should be getting the ball into the hands of one of the NFL's best offensive players.

We saw why today. OBJ's still got it.

I love the game today. I love the way we used OBJ in positions where he could be successful. That game-sealing run was a thing of beauty.

But, he's certainly not the same player from four years ago. He's... stiff? I'm not sure how to put it, but he's just not as springy/spry/agile/bouncy as he was. I think his injuries took a bit of a toll on him and we'll never see that same player who, at that point, was probably the most agile/athletic player in the NFL.

He's still terrific, and I have no problem with wanting to call him "A-tier" or something, but I don't think he has the ability to be absolutely transcendent anymore. Nobody is going to argue that he's the number one wideout in the NFL.

If I'm Berry, I'm trying to figure out a way to keep OBJ here long-term, but not pay him 20+ a year. I'd come to him and tell him we love his attitude, his work ethic, his leadership. We love having him in Cleveland and we'd love to lock him up long-term for the rest of his career. Keep both him and Landry together with Baker and this growing team. But, we'd be talking about something around 12 million a year, rather than top dollar.

Flame away.

Why isn’t Beckham a bigger part of the gameplan? I actually do understand his frustration. He does a pretty good job of getting open and creating separation on most plays...yet for large swaths of the game he’s ignored or an afterthought.

It’s frustrating because on his end I know he feels like he can be contributing much more than he has, but he’s not being given the opportunity.

Baker's best stretch was the last 8 games of 2018. During that stretch, he pretty evenly distributed the ball between Landry, Higgins, Callaway, Perriman, Njoku and Duke.

I not well formed hypothesis of mine - Bakers works best when he has a bunch of of solid options to throw to. Having a true #1 WR doesn't help him as much.

I am always weary of pinning a player’s lack of production/targets on the scheme and play calling.

If players are getting open, the scheme and play calls are working, right?

If the QB is too limited to make multiple reads or too skittish in the pocket to navigate chaos around him and still be able to keep his eyes up, that’s not on coaching.
