Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hey what about getting ricky davis back in cleveland.

you're joking, right?

Notable teams that Ricky Davis was a part of:

02-03 - Cleveland - 17-65: the year before LeBron
06-07 - Minnesota - 32-50: the year before they traded KG
07-08 - Miami - 13-58: Shaq traded, Riley leaves team to scout, DWade shuts it down

I don't want this guy anywhere near the Cavs.

while I don't think all of the things mentioned above are all on Ricky I don't see him being a guy that the Cavaliers would even think about bringing in. I will always be greatful to Ricky, without his stellar team play and great attitude the Cavaliers may have never landed LeBron

Looks like Josh Howard might become available... What do you guys think? Would you take him or would you not want him close to this team?

First of all, I'm not sure we even have the pieces to acquire him... We have more the pieces that a team would use to blow up their team and re-build, not re-tool... So it really depends on what the Mavericks want to do: either rebuild or re-tool... I'm inclined to think that it'll be the latter option, but you never know with Cuban... We could throw some young talent his way (Varejao, Pavlovic), some expirings (Snow, Jones, Szczerbiak) and/or picks (1st round pick, #19)...

I honestly don't know what I would do if the opportunity presented itself... If the guy didn't do drugs then I would say heck yeah but since he's come out and stated he does it in the off-season, that puts a big caution sign in front of the guy... I'm not sure I want a guy with that type of problem, a). being a part of a team where he will be relied upon a lot and b). being around other teammates... I just see this as a big issue to the extent of scaring me off...

The other thing that worries me is that his shooting percentages are down from the couple past years, but his points, assists, rebounds, etc., are all up (I'm guessing since it's such a small margin, from the minute increase this year)... He's also getting into the prime of his career and it's to the point where he isn't going to get much better and is likely going to be the player he is going to be... And with a guy "aging" (I'm not suggesting he's old but he is getting older), I don't know if he can maybe get away with smoking MaryJ like he maybe could when he was younger... I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm not. It just really worries me.

The other thing is that he has never really been a "good" shooter although he has done "good" a the past few years... His TS% has never been above 55% and with us needing shooters, I'm not sure that's the best for this team...

Plus, he's never been able to stay healthy for a whole season.... He's missed a combined 41 games the last 3 years due to injuries..

Me personally, I'd rather go after M.Miller, RJ or Redd then Howard right now... But if all else fails, I'd definitely look hard at JHo...

Smooth, 70% of the NBA smokes weed. JS was just being honest....stupid....but honest. If you are going to use weed as one of your litmus tests for who you want on this team, the pool to choose from is very small. Not to mention we'd have to kick a lot of players off our team too. :chuckles:

I demand names.

It's not so much the fact that he does it, it's the fact that it probably has side effects and I'm worried about those effects, affecting the way he plays... Maybe it doesn't, but we don't know that... With him coming out and saying it in a semi-down year, I'd kind of skeptical... MaryJ may not have severe, severe, long-term effects but I'm worried about the possibilities of them and whether or not they will or already effecting him now...

And plus, I'm not so sure I'd like that type of guy in my locker room... From the way MB reacted to his comment, I'm not sure he'd like it either...

But...

I'm guessing Sasha, Damon and Devin... Just a gut feeling. :)

Wally too... Definitely Wally, (did you see the game yesterday ?)

Probably minutes before the game..

you beat me to it, I have smoked weed years ago with a current nba player, that being sais Smooth, I agree with your list. I think Mike Miller is the perfect fit and we would give up the least to get him imo. If we get howard though, I would be happy. Speaking of howard....imagine dwight howard on this team. How sick would he be playing with Lebron, oh well, a guy can dream.

Oh and Max, I its more like 68.4% that smokes weed, not 70%, I thought someone as knowledgable as you would know the exact numbers :chuckles:

So if Lebron smokes weed, you wouldnt want to resign him come 2010. There is a very good chance that he does.

I think if anyone doesn't believe he does, they should just go ahead and think the Chessire Cat wasn't on drugs.

He did go to Miami... Pretty sure he got stoned there more than a few times.

But um Smooth, to be quite honest with you, if I'm sober when I play ball, I can't shoot for shit.. If I smoke, I'm relaxed and it all becomes muscle memory. Might be just me, though I sorta doubt it.

Yeah Smooth, Mike Miller, Redd, and Jefferson get first dibs for me as well.

so we all agree miller, redd, jefferson, howard...in that order, some wanting red more than miller.....but after brand, what pf does everyone want

I personally want brand, Nowitski(although i dont think he is avaialble), okafor, (i keep pimping him but no one is buying, love his defense) and cant think of any others that might be avaialble....lets get a pf wish list too.
