He has not really said anything lately on television, due to CFB season not being going on. But, I'm really at a loss as to why this guy has a job.

His smug arrogance about the game, and his hatred towards programs in the Big Ten and especially Ohio State is tired and played.

I'll give you an example of his latest tweet in regards to the Bucks latest self-imposed punishment:
mark_may Mark May
Hey OSU AD dept.& Administration channeling J McEnroe YOU CAN NOT B SERIOUS ! Your mocking the system again !

HOW are they mocking the system again mark? HOW? They fired their coach, they pushed Pryor out, they're complying with the NCAA, they've gotten rid of every win from the 2010 season. You're a fucking jackass. I could understand, if this was say, an Auburn situation, in which, May seemed to magically overlook THAT A PLAYER WAS PAID THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO PLAY AMATUER COLLEGE FOOTBALL. But it's okay, because the NCAA ignored that, and it's perfectly okay, because it's the SEC..

Also, really, "Mocking the system"? THE SYSTEM IS A JOKE. It's the most unfair, and bias system in all of sports. Fuck, even the MLB is more fair, a league that allows two teams to buy up most of the All-star teams. This is a system that allows schools like my school, Kent State to never have a shot at making the same amount of money like a school like Texas or Florida. A system THAT DOESN'T PAY IT'S EMPLOYEES DESPITE THEM MAKING BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN PROFITS.

No, Mark May is out for blood :rolleyes;, he won't stop till those meanies in Scarlet and Grey are down to being a MAC-level program, or dare I say the Pitt Panthers. He's unprofessional, and doesn't even remotely resemble a journalist. He lacks the ability to stay neutral, yet remain a fan of the sport.

In short, I wish nothing but terrible things for this assclown, and I hope ESPN will be tired of his antics, and kick his ass out the door ala Sean Salisbury style. I also hope, that it's a scandal of some sort, so that he can be over analyzed and criticized beyond belief, and not have the ability to argue back, much like the players and teams he's "Covered".

He is very unprofessional. I will say that. unfortunately, that simply means he fits in with the majority of other sports analysts around.

Not sure what's wrong with what he wrote? OSU is now mocking the system and embarrassing themselves in front of the entire country with their little slap of "this is what are punishment should be" type of thing. How arrogant can one University be anyway? They have brought on all this scrutiny themselves, and they deserve all they get..... and then some.

"We love Tressel and he's our Man. oops. No he isn't. He's was a rogue head coach. Only he did wrong. We knew nothing. We want nothing to do with him now."

OSU is now the laughing stock of college football.

May has pretty impressive credentials. He is in the College Football HOF and was one of the best interior offensive linemen of my lifetime. He has opinions on college teams dating back to his own playing career, and as a color analyst he is allowed to have those opinions. Sadly, there are questions around the college football world about the level of knowledge OSU administrators had of these transgressions. Attempting to self-penalize when there is a possibility that these same administrators knew what was going on the entire time is, shall we say, unprecedented.

May has an axe to grind with OSU because they didn't give him the scholarship he wanted back in the day. He's never let it go.

Did Ohio State do wrong in my eye?

I guess, per the guidelines in regards to the NCAA. But being pissy because a program lied about knowing that a player received cash for selling something that is his own propertym is way different than the previous infractions we've seen from other CFB programs that have been tossed into the same boat. USC for example was pretty much treating Reggie Bush like he was on their payroll.

My main issue is the hypocrisy exhibited by May. I didn't hear a peep out of him when Cam or USC as a program was under similar scrutiny by the media or by the NCAA. Yet, when the Buckeyes get cracked on, suddenly it's a major travesty, and anything short of an execution via guillotine is not enough for him.

Mark May, in my eyes could be doing great things with the airtime and the attention he gets as a College Football analyst. He could be pointing out, as a former player why the NCAA is in the wrong as a representing body for College Athletics, and would be pointing that maybe what was going on with Ohio State is only a small problem in comparison to how messed up the system of College Atheletics is.

Rather, he decides to go the easy route and dig in at ripping at the Ohio State's program. It shouldn't be about wanting to go "Old Testament God" on these schools, and wanting to smite them for what they've done in trying to earn money in a corrupt system, it should be just about trying to correct this problem, and ensuring a more fair system for all involved.

And May is either too cowardly or too stupid to say anything about what the big picture is. He'll just keep hauling around that bitterness towards the Big Ten, and Ohio State and remain as an unchecked force of arrogance that seems to run rampant at the WWL.

Really? The lying and the cover-up is by far the biggest problem here. The point is, if Tressel was willing to sweep the apparel sales under the rug, wouldn't he be willing to hide bigger and more embarrassing things? Same for OSU administration. I can't claim any knowledge as to what May has said about USC and Auburn, but there was never any definitive proof on Cam. Everything is the in black-and-white in the OSU case. In terms of USC, it's really hard to say what Carroll did and didn't know. The Reggie Bush scandal was involving an assistant. Not trying to say Carroll had no knowledge of what happened, but there wasn't any proof that he did. It's much different when a head coach commits a major violation. He's the face of the program and is supposed to be in charge of making things are on the up-and-up, whether that is completely fair of not. It just raises a lot more eyebrows when a HC lies to the NCAA vs an assistant.

People use the term cover up thinking this was some elaborate plot to deceive...it's so sensationalized at this point it's becoming comical.

Mark May was on again, coming off an angry deranged toddler about to be put in time out.

"Enough is enough! it's time for Mark Emmerich and Jim Delany to lay down some sanctions for Ohio State for what they've done!"

...

This was about Georgia Tech getting in trouble with the NCAA, and yet he turned it around for it to be against Ohio State.

You know what mark? why? Is it suddenly going to solve the problem? Is making Ohio State out to be this massive evil villian who's corrupt and the boogieman going to stop "X-State/Tech/U" think twice about trying to make MONEY for their program? NO. LOOK AT WHAT AUBURN DID THIS PAST SEASON FOR CHRISTS SAKE.

This isn't some moral crusade on your part. Because if it was, you'd be calling out the major injustice that exists between the players and the NCAA in terms of what they've earned, and the amount of money made. Never heard him say anything there.

No, he chooses some issue that won't matter in the long run, if left in a vacuum.. Who was harmed by this? I demand to know who. Was there some little kid that got kicked in the teeth by Jim Tressel or something. Was Pitt put at a competitive disadvantage. WHO.

Mark and ESPN's goal is to destroy the Ohio State program.

Well, Jim Delaney did show them up to the tune of about 10 billion dollars. I wonder what reason ESPN has to attack tOSU like a jilted lover?

This must be this wk ends Joke the NCAA just cleared Ohio St of failing to monitor their football program HAHAHAHAHA typical for the NCAA about 5 hours ago via MogoTXT

You know, I'm really convinced at this point that the Buckeyes should try to take ESPN and this assclowning troll of a "journalist" into court for libel. What a disgrace and an embarrassment that a major network has stooped to this.

Does anyone remember when he picked USC to beat Texas in the National Championship 45-27? He made look like Texas didn't have a chance...of course, that wasn't the case. He loves USC so much for some reason

LSU had self imposed sanctions. how is that unprecedented.
West Virginia applied self imposed sanctions
Boise State ...self imposed sanctions
Arizona... self imposed sanctions
Texas Tech self imposed sanctions
University of California... Self imposed sanctions
University of Michigan... self imposed sanctions

thats 7 schools right there from quick google search. how exactly is this unprecedent.

The only thing that is unprecedent is the flack ohio state is taking for relatively minor violations compared to more serious program violations that actually give schools unfair advanatages in recruiting that the rules were made explicitly to stop,

does sanctioning OSU stop The Memorbilia sells by college athletes around the nation.. not at all .. the NCAA would never forbid autograph sessions after games, events and practices because of revenue generated for the ncaa trademarked merchandise that they are allowed to sign.

The NCAA is an association. it represents a collection of Universities. These instituions are the ones who are the ones who are actually supposed to be the ones to making the rules and agreeing to the penalties.

Hence the abilitie to propose their own penalties in the NCAA committee.

Rep points for whoever finds and posts a video of Dr. Lou telling Mark that the whole state of OH thinks he's an idiot.

Great quote...something along the lines of "Jesus loves you, but everyone in Ohio thinks you're an idiot."
