OSU Recruiting Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I know it’s going to sound like a fanboy.

But he’s a combination of both.

His running is more developed right now. But the arm talent and big time throw ability is absolutely there.

Sounds like a home run. Would you slot him above Martell if the season started tomorrow?

I think Martell has had two years here to make OSU not want to go find a better horse.

If they’re out there trying to find someone to come in over him, and it’s for real?...

...I’m inclined to take their word for it. Don’t have much reason not to.

That being said, this is one of those decisions you just can’t be wrong on. Fields comes with baggage, and a helicopter parent.

I watched his highlights and he looks closer to a runner like Braxton Miller. He seems to have that speed and shiftiness. Maybe not as quick as Brax which is hard to tell with the limited college highlights.

As for his arm, I don't think if it's Haskins or Cardale level but better than JT or Braxton. Fields to me looks like Braxton with a significantly upgraded arm.

I think

a) Tate was a better fit for the JT/Brx offense with tons of zone read. Day would rather throw it more.

b) I think Day would be fine tailoring an offense to Tate, and would be successful. Very few QBs would be able to come in and be better than Tate from day. But Fields is one of those few who can.

So I don't think it's OSU trying to find a better horse, it's that a better horse found OSU unexpectedly.

I know no one here cares, but Purdue just had a top 25 recruiting class. Considering Brohm's coaching ability, that forecasts very well for the future of my Boilermaker program.
Will you be flying to Tampa for the future Outback Bowl appearances.

Definitely think this is fair, and I think Day can absolutely gameplan to win with Martell.

But it is a pretty big risk to take in terms of disrupting "the brotherhood" if Martell really has the potential to wind up in NYC next year.

I think OSU is going to be fine either way, I think the defense and offensive line are still the major areas of concern for offensive success.

No, but ironically my Dad is from Tampa and I have been many times.

Tate is OK, but I think fields is better. If you can get home you do that...

I don't think Martell is in the same league as Fields. If it wasn't for Trevor Lawrence, he would have been the top recruit in the nation last year. I've heard scouts prop up Lawrence & Fields as the 2 top high school prospects of the entire decade. This would be a no-brainer, sorry Tate.

Fields, the nation’s No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2018, is a dual-threat quarterback from Kennesaw, Ga., who has already drawn comparisons to former NFL MVP Cam Newton.

Courtesy of CBS Sports, here’s video of Fields officially making his commitment to the Bulldogs.

Fields’ commitment was so big that one news station used a helicopter to stream the event.

Fields earned a 100 rating from 247Sports, which is tied for the highest-ever mark for a quarterback.

I hadn't even thought of that...but watching his tape, holy shit. He looks a lot like Cam. Similar build, similar play style...what stands out the most is their release when throwing the ball. It looks identical.

Significantly better thrower of the football than Cam Newton.

And people have been worried about losing guys. I sure hope Day can keep this up in the coming years.
