panthers D-LINE vs BROWNS O-LINE

Numbers??

Are you slow or something?

Numbers in Denver mean nothing...he was a RB out of college, he wasnt good enough to make it as a RB on the LIONS, THE LIONS!!!

He goes to Denver, get's put in a system, and boom. He get's a thousand yards just like Mike Anderson, just like Orlandis Gary etc...etc..bums turned 1000 yard backs arent hard to do in Denver's system.

The difference between them and Portis is that Portis was an excellent RB in college, and his production was expected. But at the same time, he hasnt had the success he had since he left Denver.

Ruben is an alright back. But Ill take Green any day over Ruben.

i was using his best year CAVINCALI (which is his rookie year, SAD, SAD, SAD)-- his last two years combined don't add up to rube's 2004 season..

i'm not a huge rube fan, but i think his production would be greater in the back field then willie's--or lee's for that matter

william has what some would call "HAPPY FEET" ...he takes the ball and he doesn't read the defense...

he never goes up the gut, it's always sideline to sideline-- plus he is a poor reciever in the back...

the only thing i love about william is his power running on 3rd and short..-- his stiff arm is one of the best i've ever seen.. he just doesn't get to use it enough..

hey LEBERON'S_PIPPEN read between the lines. the broncos were and are a hella of a lot better than the browns and their line is one of the best if not the best line in the league. you might think that would have something to do with it. goodness all the hostility.

every single team passed on C-PO, the dumbass browns drafted this BELOW AVERAGE running back ahead of MR ^ (Portis was an excellent RB in college, and his production was expected.)-- so i guess they thought willie was going to be better ?

man this argument is a joke-- you have no base for a comparison (you can't back up your argument.. all you got is a rookie year.) Hell, I want william to be great, cause that only makes the browns that much better....
BUT, defending william green is like defending DAJUAN WAGNER!! --oh wait let me stop there, cause YOU DO DEFEND WAGNER..

well go ahead and throw little willie in that slow boat to no where with WAGS..

but are scrubs, and both are B*U*S*T*S.. iT'S TIME TO take off the BUST proof goggles and REALIZE "SON"

The year that Portis was drafted wasnt a big RB draft...you had Green who had three really good years at BC, Ducket who had a good career at MSU and Portis, who was a helluva RB for a Miami team but was stuck behind other great backs and only had ONE great year.

So teams looked at it like, these guys proven themselves in more than one year, do we need to take that risk right now?

So that is why Portis slipped. But he was still a high draft pick and was expected to do good. Maybe not the great stats that he eventually put up, but again, everything is skewed in Denver.

But none the less, he wasnt a bum, UDFA, or a low low round draft pick like the others in Denver.

So you can try again there..

I dont just have his rookie year, he was well on his way to a 1000 yard year in year 2 before the DUI, so he had two productive years.

Ask yourself this...if Ruben was so good? Why was he waived by the Lions? How come he could only crack the Miami Dolphins practice squad? (when they desperately needed a RB, this was pre-Ricky). If he was so good, how come he couldnt last on the Lions roster AGAIN!!!

Do me this...name the RBs on those teams when he was there. The talent he couldnt beat out kills me...

Answer me how THREE NFL coaches had this guy that is so good, that is a 1,000 yard back, couldnt find a roster spot on their team?

Why was it, since he was so good...that it took TWO injured RBs before he got a shot to carry the rock in Denver after TWO YEARS OF RIDING THE PINE!

Why is that he could only get yards and get time on a team that had two starters go down, in a system that has had 5 RBs with 1,000 yard seasons in 6 years?

Why?

I thought he was good LePip...why did it take him 5 years, two position changes, three coaches, being waived, practice squad, two injured RBs later, to finally become this RB you speak of?

Could it be the system....hmmm....

Then you put William Green, who played on a team with the TWO WORST OFFENSIVES LINES IN THE LEAGUE (thats not me, every NFL publication would agree with that) and he carried a team to the playoffs. Then he started out having a good year, and even last year with split time he didnt do bad. ON TERRIBLE OFFENSIVE LINES!!!

You dont have much of an arguement...you should probably just stop now and save face.

so stubborn MAC----I love it, I don't know if you noticed, but we have the best arguments of anybody on here..

as with the other arguments, i've declared myself the winner on this one as well...but you did put up a good effort..

the thing you are not getting is, RUBE was playing FB in detroit (HE WAS THERE FOR ONE YEAR)... they (THE LIONS) had just signed james stewart, who was a big free agent at the time from jacksonville...rube was his blocker...

no way they give rube the ball after they give a ton of money to STEWART.. are the raiders going to throw to ronald curry or doug gabriel over MOSS ??? (put your A MAC thinking cap on)

Portis is a incredible talent, so there is no way he was going to get the nod over RUBE (i believe portis did win ROY) they made the right choice (I wish the browns did that year) cause all the browns got was WILLIAM GREEN :thumbdown

I just find it funny that when this ALL PRO WILLIAM GREEN was on the block, there was no takers--- you would think, a guy with his incredible VISON and HANDS ;) and his out of this world ability, everybody would have been knocking on the door... or at least he would be the undisputed #1 on his own team.. considering, he is so great and all

the broncos should have another solid runner in tatum bell this year....take notice...

pip you bring up good points but your last sentence refutes your position.

people passed on green due to the off the field problems. if he didnt have them he wouldnt have been on the trading block because he would have been putting up good numbers.

and dont get me wrong i dont think green is a great back but rube isnt either.

i wish i could find the article CAVINCALI--there was an article about a year and a half ago about william and his mental state.. (the true reason there was no interest)

when they did a certain part of the test at the combine, a few red flags were thrown up..something on the lines of why he has a little trouble reading defenses... (it's probably the weed munching on his brain cells)-- but hey he was a butch pick... who knows how long he would have lasted...

if i'm not mistaken, I believe butch passed on his little own production whore running back that year mr.. portis...

i'm pretty sure it was a yahoo story, and if i can find it tonight, that would be the last nail in A MAC's coffin..R.I.P :chuckles:

oh yeah because you have to do everything perfect at the combine to be a good player.

if he had trouble reading defenses how would he be a 1st round pick, how would he start in highschool, college, and in the pro's.

YOU WANT SOME TOO CALI ???????

#1 you got to look at who took him, who made him a high draft pick ?? :chuckles: (that guys track record speaks for it's self)

#2 He had these problems at BC

#3 It looks like their cautions have come to fruition-- he has trouble reading defenses, he doesn't hit the proper holes.. that is why he must go sideline to sideline..

Hell didn't RUN RUN say he was a running back in high school ?

anybody can do it these days ? :chuckles: (J/K RUN)

anyways, the WILLIAM GREEN apologist are weak :thumbdown

Yeah notice when we gave him permission to seek a trade none of the 31 other NFL Gm's went to the Betty Ford clinic to try to sign him. Why? He isn't worth it, he is troublesome off the field his new way should last up until he realizes he wont be higher then 3rd string. Rueben Droughns part of the Denver Bronco scheme maybe, but William Green will be gone when his contract runs up, if he had any value at all he would have been traded, notice Andre Davis was granted permission to seek a trade and no more then 3 days later he was gone can't say the same for Green as we are stuck with him for the time being..

1. if you remember correctly everyone and their mom was saying that the top 2 backs were duckett and green. so the look who took him thing is toast.

2. how could you possibly have problem seeing the hole in college when bc ran a single back formation??? and if he had trouble why would he be considered a first round pick???

3. hey thiers allways a hole if you run straight to the sideline. :chuckles:

if green didnt have talent the browns would have cut him bro.

BC always runs a power I --he's a product of the system...But when it breaks down, the kid is dumb as hell in his decisions..run to the coach mentality doesn't work in the nfl :chuckles:

hell why do you think they were going after chester taylor in the off season ?

william's days are up , i believe he would have been gone by now if it wasn't for red cross SUGGS..

I would love though for nothing more then to have him gain back his game, running backs don't last too long....

we at least seen the potential he had for 7 games in 02..

pippen you are a hyprocrite. first you are refuting that rube is a system runningback but then you say that green is a system back. make up you mind bro.
