Ok, I'll let you keep waiving at King Julien.

I know jup's schtick, at one point we actually thought he was Trevor or someone close to him. It's perfectly fine to be a fanboy of a certain player, but you'll find out that in the long run, it's mostly an elaborated way of passive aggressively dissing every Indians pitcher not named Bauer. He did it with Kluber in his CY seasons, so that's why my BS alarm goes up when he's already introducing it to explain away another pitcher's success. Just wait on his posts on Bieber, Plesac and Clev...

I don't care what he did on old boards. He's made some quality posts on this board. I haven't agreed with everything and that's fine.

If you think his welcome will wear thin, let it happen on its own. Right now you're the one that looks crazy when he says "nice to see you over on this board" and you respond with an elaborate attack.

Well, I didn't miss his slight, that's why. It was just his typical passive aggressive way of saying "shut up and better keep talking about prospects".

He knows pitching and can present it, but listen to the "sound of it". It either takes an elitists turn or like a good conspiracy everything gets traced back/leads to ole pal Trevor, or both.

As I said, if you really believe he’ll go that direction, let him dig his own grave.

Oh, sorry to bother your Harvard lecture on stable genius Bauer with my kindergarden theory that a 2.4 ERA, 1.07 WHIP is better than a 4.03 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, especially coming from a 4.5 years younger pitcher. But since he has no clue what he's doing and "is out there competing for his life as a pitcher", it's just beginners luck, because he can't be a wunderkind, right? That's verboten. Not with an avg FB, so that can't be real.

Classic mind over matter doctrine. Since he doesn't know what/how he's doing it, he can't be doing it right.
Didn't mean it that way Tondo.

Was trying to explain a point, that players on the field have expertise and experience that guides their actions, and Civale has those also. While at the same time making a point that having "gut insticnts" or "field level" experience isn't mutually exclusive to a theory that takes into account what they do and how they do it. Whether they do it through theory or athleticism and experience, that it can work for them and still be explained and taught from a different standpoint.

No slight to Civale - big fan of his actually. And if you want to compare Bauer and Civale, go right ahead. My post wasn't designed to denigrate or promote either one. Was a discussion about pitching that needs some real world examples to make it simpler to understand.

And as it regards the minor league side - was just meant as that is where I saw you post most of the time. Try this, you are a major league poster that likes to post about the minor league side. :ok:

Any word on DAWG sightings ??????

I don't believe DetDawg moved over to these boards but I know he was invited/ informed by myself & others. TBH - He could have moved over under a different screen name & doesn't people to know it is him (looking for/ seeking a fresh start)..

Please note: There is someone that came over soon after I did & the post/ reaction count is incredibly high for such a short time on the boards..

This is Jup. This is his bread and butter: pitching. He is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to pitching, his knowledge on pitching was a massive positive for the old IBI forums and will be here for RCF. I am extremely happy he moved over here, as I was worried he would move away with the Bauer trade and the closer of the IBI forums.

There's somewhere between a sit in the trees and watch him in his house love affair to a Fatal Attraction level affair with Bauer, but his pitching knowledge is still above anyone I have ever seen post on any baseball forum.

;) at ya Jup, keep up the good work.

So here's a stat for you.
So far this season, when Bieber is pitching,
Nothing happens , for about 66% of the game.
There are no balls in play.
Just K's, and an occasional walk.
No action.
And people say baseball is a boring game!

Well, Karinchak apparently didn't read the chapter on throwing hitters middle speed pitches. Everything is either 96 or 82.

But I see what you jup means about hitters being trapped in the middle. Donaldson was clearly looking for a fastball on the first pitch and got one right down the pipe. But his swing was still late and he fouled out to the right side. The Twins hitters were out in front of Karinchak's curve and behind his fastball.

Was this level of quality expected from the pitching staff?

I had read that they were going to be quite solid, but Bieber and Civale seem to be young guys really coming into their primes in a big way after a couple good years off the farm.

Trevor Bauer has helped change the way pitchers train and prepare themselves for increased success. That doesn’t mean he’s the best pitcher in the world. Charlie Lau was perhaps the best hitting guru of the late 20th century, but he himself couldn’t hit a lick. Bauer can certainly pitch better than Lau could hit, but he’s not Bob Feller.

The thing that bothers a lot of the folks who’ve migrated here from IBI is that it seems that every discussion involving Jup evolves into “Bauer talk”. If his information on pitching, which he truly seems to know a lot about, could exclude Trevor more often it would be much more palatable to a few people.
