Pitching

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don’t think you know what righteous means. It’s not an inherently derogatory term.
Agree -- self-righteous would be often seen as derogatory...righteous more positive. -- complimentary, even.

Give me a break, I know what righteous means. Thanks for the insult to my intelligence.

And yes righteous is not a derogatory term by definition, but don't try to hide behind that. Term is used in a derogatory way ALL THE TIME in public discourse. So the context it is used in makes all the difference.

If you notice, I said interesting use - didn't accuse, maybe it was meant in a positive way, I am not in Benway's head and don't assume I know how he meant it. Simply laid out how I watched the whole thing unfold over a whole bunch of years.

Whatever, man. You’re dead wrong on this. You’re thinking of “self-righteous”.

I don’t know why you insist on playing the victim at every turn.

Hammy putting Bauer on blast: "It's being said that he will never wear a Dodgers uniform again." "With Max Scherzer, not only have you replaced Trevor Bauer, you have replaced him with a better teammate and a better pitcher."

Yikes, Hammy sure has a lot of grudges!

Hammy needs to retire. He’s a grumpy old man.

Except that Hammy is right on every count.

Will Bauer pitch again for the Dodgers?

No.

Is Scherzer a better pitcher?

Lets see now, Hall of Famer vs Bauer? By any conceivable measurement, it isn't close.

Better teammate?

Doh!

Bauer and Scherzer have near identical statistics since the start of the 2020 season. So by that conceivable measure, I would say it is close

If you want to base a comparison, using one freak covid season as your foundation, be my guest.

Bauers FIP in a now ended season (for him) is nearly half a run higher.than Scherzers.

Your post above says which is the better pitcher, Scherzer or Bauer, and you referenced that Scherzer is a Hall of Famer and Bauer is Bauer.

Is Albert Pujols better than Matt Olson?

I think comparing the stats of each pitcher from the last 13 months is a hell of a lot more relevant than comparing their careers.

Your freak COVID season made Bauer the highest paid player in the MLB by AAV. So clearly it carried no weight with the Dodgers.

Their xFIP is within 0.30

"By any conceivable measurement, it isn't close."

Narrator: "it was close"

I guess my point isn't the relative accuracy of the comment, but instead, is this surprisingly "spicy take" appropriate in the context of play-by-play commentary?

What made Bauer a bad teammate? I hadn’t heard that one.
Might be hard to find many examples that are too specific but I think it comes down to Bauer just being a polarizing personality. Guys like Clevinger and Bieber surely thought very highly of him while guys like Kluber probably kept their distance.

There is that report that his Dodgers teammates do not want him back. Does that mean they didn't care much for him pre-incident or do they not want someone back who might be a piece of shit person that will bring all sorts of distractions? Could be a combo of both, depending on what you believe about the report of them not wanting him back.

I don't presume to know Trevor. What I am fairly confident in saying is that he helped facilitate a new era of pitching in Cleveland. They were ahead of the curve in large part due to him. Because of his talent and performance, we now have Reyes hitting in the middle of our lineup.

Bauer is if anything over competitive which led to uncontrolled tantrums like throwing the ball over the CF wall, but those that live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks. I just hope that he learned from his experiences.

Now there's a sexual misconduct case against him. It wouldn't surprise me if the woman didn't deliberately set him up. Irregardless, he should have known better and now he has to suffer the consequences of his actions. It's a cruel world, especially when you make dumb decisions in the heat of the moment.....and/or with a boner.

Whatever happens we should let the process take place before passing a final judgement.

Sounds like his LA teammates don’t care for him, but that could just be rumors. I heard nothing but great things about him in Cleveland and Cincy.
