I know I'm going to take a lot of heat for this but with certain teams struggling this year that have had success in the past I can't help but wonder the trade possibilities close to the deadline. There are two possible scenarios that have gotten my attention.
The first scenario would be the phoenix suns. Steve Nash and Amarie have expressed their displeasure with their team this year. They both have commented that they are not having as much fun this year as they have in the past. We all saw that Steve Kerr bet the farm on winning a 'ship last year by trading Marion for Shaq. That turned out to be a bust, and with Nash and Stoudemire expressing their displeasure with the team I can't help but wonder if things continue to go south for the suns that they may be willing to blow that team up and rebuild. I question Kerr's ability as a GM and wonder that if Ferry can work his 3 team trade magic and possibly land Amarie. I look at teams like Portland and see they have a plethra of young PG's and Bigs. Maybe Ferry can work a deal with Kerr and Pritchard that would send Nash to portland, maybe Aldrige or Przybilla and Bayless or Fernandez to Phoenix, Stoudemire to Cleveland, and Wally to Phoenix and AV to Portland. I'm not sure about the salaries so you could add fillers and draft picks to make the deal work.
Like I said it's a long shot and I expect to take some heat from my fellow posters but I can see the deal mentioned going down. I say this because if Phoenix goes down hill and want to rebuild they get a young big and PG to build around. I'd say portland would do this deal because they get veteran leadership in Nash and a great defender in AV, which is something portland lacks (with the exception of Oden), and Cleveland would do this deal, obviously because adding stoudemire would give us another scoring threat.
The other situation that I have been monitoring that has caught my attention is toronto. Bosh is apparently not happy there and has expressed interest in signing elsewhere in 2010. With the recent firing of Mitchel I can see them going down the tubes this season, and can't help but wonder if Ferry could work his 3 team trade magic and land Bosh. I haven't really thought this scenario through as I have the last one, but I can't help wonder if it could be done.
Anyway, just looking for your thoughts.:chuckles:
