Do Not Sell My Personal Information
@NtG @Ren I really need to get Overwatch, but i've been playing a lot of CS Go lately with the lady. It's nice to have a game to play with her and she really has no interest in anything but CS as she use to play for a competitive all girls squad back in the day.

Just get it and make her play a bit. I guarantee she'll want to keep playing. I was honestly on the fence about getting it, and now it is one of my favorite FPS of all time.

Overwatch is a great game, and you will get hooked on it when you play it for a bit. That being said, if she's hooked on CS good luck trying to get her to switch. I've been on and off CS since 1999 so I get where you're coming from. It's one of a kind and no other game can provide that type of competition.

I just couldn't get in to Overwatch. It feels like a less fun version of TF2 to me.

That's surprising, everyone I know who has tried Overwatch has really enjoyed it. It does rip off a bit from TF2, and TF2 also has more of the novelty factor where Overwatch is trying to be a competitive game.

Funny though, I couldn't get into TF2 cause it felt like a watered down version of QWTF.

I was a big TFC player when I was younger. It took me some time to be really won over by TF2, but once I got into it there was no turning back. It's just such a unique game, and I love that Valve continues to update and support it to this day. I played it competitively (both on the 360 and then later the PC once I upgraded it) for a few years and still play with a lot of the friends I made during that time. Hell, there were guys I absolutely hated on the 360 competitive scene that I'm good friends with now.

My forum name actually started out as a prank I played on a guy I hated during my 360 competitive days. He was always talking shit and posting about how I was overrated and not that good. Thus, I created an alt (Jack Brickman) with a backstory that explained why I immediately knew what I was doing (I came from the PS3 version, which was just terribly supported) and became a free agent. Naturally, I tried out for the team of the guy who hated me, and then laughed as he posted numerous glowing reviews of how good I was on the forums the competitive community frequented. He flat out said he thought I was the best player in the game. I think when I made the reveal it broke him. Dude was never the same after that.

Anyway, I think the reason I don't care for Overwatch is because I hate MOBAs, and it's basically a mash-up of FPS and MOBA.

You're spot on with the mash-up comparison. The meta is driven by what character's they buff/nerf. That's completely different than TF2 where the core gameplay is rarely touched, they just add on to it. I'm hoping that Blizzard doesn't go the full MOBA route where we're getting a new character every other month. I will quit if they do that. A few new heroes a year would be okay but one of the reason's I quit LOL was because they were getting to a point where we got a new hero released once a month and said hero would be extremely overpowered so that people would drop cash to buy it. After a month of people complaining they would nerf said hero, rinse and repeat with the next one.

I gained a reputation during CS when I played a ton and I would get reported for cheating 3-4 times a season. It was a competition between me and one of my good friends on my team who would get disputed that week. I'm shocked I never got banned because admins at the time had a ton of power and would ban just because they "saw something fishy" in a game. They would use wallhacks to watch disputed players and if it looked like someone was tracing through the wall(even if it was a complete coincidence) they would drop the ban hammer. I knew a few admins from going to LAN's so I'm sure that helped my case.

You should give Overwatch another shot though, Blizzard has done a good job in hero creation and so far the game is balanced fairly well. They've already have 3 major patches since release.
