Set Free: Dante Exum

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Since his monster game on January 5 Exum has really been struggling. He's made 1 of his last 16 attempts from the 3-point line. He's scrored 44 points in his last 13 games, or 3.4 ppg. In our most recent game against OKC he was scoreless in 15 minutes with four turnovers and three fouls.

It looks like the change of scenery isn't helping.

They're hoping he can play against the Lakers. By the way, we just played a team where one of their key players missed six or seven games with the flu. Don't these guys get their shots?

My prediction is that when Windler is finally ready to play, probably in March, he'll come down with it.

My stepdaughter is a nurse, and kept asking my wife and I to get our shots. She obviously got hers....

She came down with both strains anyway. A and B, at the same time. Not saying that's what caused her to get both...but she got both anyway despite the shot.

Wait, you mean Dante Exum still pretty much stinks?

I really thought he turned the corner after that game....I was very wrong about that..

And he's on the books for another 10 mill next year,,they should have gave us a first rounder just to take "The X Man".

He has a couple of weaknesses that are killing him. He is not that good of a passer and not that good of a handler.

Your step daughter got the flu from that place where sick people congregate- Work. The same place I got my laryngitis in October. We wash our hands like fiends all night, but exposure is exposure, and everyone we deal with had something going on. The flu vaccine isnt as effective as other vaccines because the flu virus mutates, there are thousands of known strains. The flu vaccine is based upon the 3 most prevalent strains going around abt 6-8 months prior. This is because it takes time to create and manufacture the vaccine. It is a best guess scenario. And that is better than no prep at all with something that is deadly.

And she definitely didn't get the flu from the shot. The virus had been inactivated- smashed up. It's an intelligence report for your body's immune system- 'here is what the enemy and it's antigen looks like'. The 'flu like' symptoms people get is the immune systems' defense response to finding an invader: turn up the heat, turn up the flood response system to flush it the invader (sweating), create defensive response teams (which cause inflammation) and increase the peripheral defenses at the entry points(make me more mucus!). You wouldn't get a respiratory illness from something injected in your shoulder- you would get a blood borne infection. The flu attacks our lungs because that's how it gets in. I usually get a couple days of low grade fever, but have yet in 7 years to get a true case of the flu (if you want anecdotal).

He simply needs an offseason and pre-season with Coach B to work on his fundamentals. Unfortunately, it seems he’s always “off-season.”
He simply needs a buyout and a plane ticket back to Australia. He does nothing a Gatorade League player can't do at 10x the cost.

I think those weaknesses are more apparent if they want to make him into a combo guard. I can understand why he was marketed as a PG and why Utah tried to make him one. With his size and length, he would be a mismatch at PG. Now though he hasn't developed further as a PG and with his injuries, he just isn't quick enough to get around guards to get to the basket. It hurts him that he doesn't use his length and size to get to the basket, he plays smaller because of his handles.

He has the size and length to be a wing. His handles and passing would be good enough for a wing. He quickness would be above average for a wing also. I think it would be better spent to develop him as a wing. See if he can use what he has to play off the ball and defend at a high level.

Yeah, but his shot is so slow. I agree with you mostly because i thought he was a pass first guy, but he isn't. I'd say his potential as a passer is less than Sexton.

I also think defenses don't respect any of his scoring so he can't break down defenses to open up his passing game.

Even when he is scoring well, his on ball scoring looks so much more difficult than it should be. He puts up difficult shots and gets favorable bounces to score off the dribble. When he is cutting and other people are setting him up, he looks more explosive and can use simpler moves.

I was hopeful when he was traded here but after watching him for a month, I think he should be turned into a 3&D wing if possible. Take him completely off the ball and have him work on getting open. They have basically a year to work with him, it would be a waste of time to try to develop him further on the ball.

Yeah probably a good idea.
