Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Awsome, thanks for posting that. I wonder if this kid is like Varejao and doesn't speak a lick of English.

I believe he speaks english, in all the transcripts I've read it says nothing about him using a translator.

I'm more concerned how quickly he'll develope, and if he will. I think we have more white people on our team than any other in the league, at least we got rid of jiri. :chuckles:

That is pretty funny, however....I could just hear it if someone said we have more African Americans than any other team.....at least we got rid of JMAC :chuckles:

Brief Summary

Martynas has decent English, which prompted Ferry to joke that his English was much better than Zydrunas’ when he first joined the team. Early impressions I got was Martynas Andriuskevicius was nervous but a good sport about the whole deal. Ferry said starting today the team will try to address Andriuskevicius’ strength issue. Martynas will be lifting and eating (Ferry took him out to a steakhouse the other day). A question about Ilgauskas came up and Ferry said he thinks Ilgauskas will be back but that he has an important decision to make and wants him to have space to do whatever he feels is best. One reporter asked if Martynas Andriuskevicius will play in the summer league next week and Martynas said yes. That joins him with Luke Jackson, Kelenna Azubuike (?) and John Gilchrist on the summer squad. Ferry fielded some general questions about the team and that was that.

Geez, how do you say his name? His first name is easy, but his last sounds hard as hell to pronouce.

I was just going to pronounce his name "M"

This approach works as long as we don't start duplicating letters.

Yes, all the Lithuanians will be referred to by one letter nicknames, Z, M and hopefully S

Ferry asks for patience with rookie
Cavaliers General Manager Danny Ferry wants to ease any high expectations of newly acquired center Martynas Andriuskevicius, who was obtained from the Orlando Magic in exchange for a second#-#round pick next season in 2006 and cash-RD%>.

"He's 19 years old, and you were a little spoiled with another 19-year-old around here," said Ferry, referring to LeBron James' rookie season. "Most 19-year-olds have to take time to develop. I would assume that will be needed [with Andriuskevicius]. For him to compete in the NBA, he'll have to get stronger."

Before the draft, Andriuskevicius, who was obtained Tuesday from the Orlando Magic in exchange for a second-round pick in 2006 and cash, was projected as a lottery pick but that certainly changed.

"I don't know what happened," Ferry said. "A lot of it is that people think he needs to get stronger and that's something that we'll try to address."

The Cavs will focus immediately on strength issues with the 7-2, 240-pound Andriuskevicius, and leave any skill concerns until next week's summer league begins in Las Vegas.

"I'll play the game and have fun," Andriuskevicius said.

Andriuskevicius is a native of Kaunas, Lithuania, same as Zydrunas Ilgauskas is from-RD%>.

"I met Z [for the first time Wednesday] and he can be a great friend for me," Andriuskevicius said. "I can learn a lot from him."

Now Z, how can you leave now? He is crying out for a friend and father figure. Surely you cannot think about yourself here. You need to nurture your fellow countrymen in this strange land.
