Price not returning for Cavs' telecasts

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
^ It'll be pretty hard to sugar-coat the Cavs this year after losing our owner, GM, coach, star's nearly-quarter billion dollar agent, and very possibly our longtime starting C. :eekrun: Somehow, Michael Reghi and Mike Snyder will manage it though.

Mark Price will not be back with FSN Ohio next season.

''In an effort to spend more time with my family, I will not be returning to FSN Ohio as color analyst for the 2005 Cavaliers season,'' he said in a prepared statement. ''The lengthy NBA season and demanding travel schedule makes it impossible for me to balance my time between the team and my home in Atlanta.

''I would like to thank FSN Ohio, the entire Cavaliers organization and my partner, Michael Reghi, for the incredible opportunity to come back to Cleveland and work on Cavaliers telecasts.''

Price, perhaps the team's most popular former player, signed a one-year contract and he had an option on a second year (which he declined) with FSN Ohio. He worked 40 games with the Cavaliers last year, in addition to some Atlanta home games for Turner South.

The broadcasting gig was his first at any level of basketball. He started out extremely slow with the Cavaliers, but improved as the season wore on.

Austin Carr, the color analyst for WUAB's telecasts, is a candidate to replace Price at FSN Ohio. Another possibility is former Cavaliers center Scott Williams, who retired last season after 15 year in the NBA.

''It has been a pleasure having Mark Price part of our Cavaliers television team,'' FSN Ohio senior vice president and general manager Steve Liverani said. ''He improved with every game last season, and provided invaluable insight and analysis on the game and the team.''

Infante, in my opinion the only thing worse than having Price back would be having Austin Carr take his place. Price was boring, but at least he wasn't redundant, that is, saying the same thing over and over and over throughout the course of the game. Guokas would be great, though I suspect we couldn't get him again.

Austin Carr is sweet. He makes random comments, something that color analysts should do. Makes the commentary more entertaining.

I find Carr very fun and interesting to listen to. He can at least bring some excitement and enthusiasm to the table. And for the most part, he knows what he is talking about.

I can put up with Austin Carr on some games but I don't want to listen to him for 75 games or so. They need to bring in someone else for the cable telecasts. I'd like Guokas back but I also don't see him returning. I think Scott Williams could have a lot of offers to choose from.
I hope Gilbert and the new regime don't push for some obnoxious loudmouth who adds nothing.

austin is great in all..

but you get this too much

"YOUR'RE RIGHT MICHAEL" -- DURING the second half he starts to call him "MAGOO" i guess it's to cut corners.. but i would leave AC for the wuab airings

if you could snatch CRAIG EHLO from the sonics broadcast team that would be nice.. he's awesome... hell, just throw him into the sonics package we might be getting..

The thing I like about Austin is that he's emotional. When the Cavs play bad, he makes it known that he's upset, something Mark didn't do.

We all have different opinions, but I can't believe people can't stand to listen to Austin Carr for 70+ games. He may be outspoken at times, but thats what makes him special. He is human, with human feelings and human emotions. He doesn't try to sugarcoat himself into some slick suit specialist. He calls it like he sees it 100% of the time. To add to that, he is also probably the biggest Cavs fan out there, and it doesn't get any better than that.

I could listen to Carr for every game..

Yeah, he stumbles sometimes, but his emotion makes his broadcasts. ID be all for it.
