Mark Price will not be back with FSN Ohio next season.
''In an effort to spend more time with my family, I will not be returning to FSN Ohio as color analyst for the 2005 Cavaliers season,'' he said in a prepared statement. ''The lengthy NBA season and demanding travel schedule makes it impossible for me to balance my time between the team and my home in Atlanta.
''I would like to thank FSN Ohio, the entire Cavaliers organization and my partner, Michael Reghi, for the incredible opportunity to come back to Cleveland and work on Cavaliers telecasts.''
Price, perhaps the team's most popular former player, signed a one-year contract and he had an option on a second year (which he declined) with FSN Ohio. He worked 40 games with the Cavaliers last year, in addition to some Atlanta home games for Turner South.
The broadcasting gig was his first at any level of basketball. He started out extremely slow with the Cavaliers, but improved as the season wore on.
Austin Carr, the color analyst for WUAB's telecasts, is a candidate to replace Price at FSN Ohio. Another possibility is former Cavaliers center Scott Williams, who retired last season after 15 year in the NBA.
''It has been a pleasure having Mark Price part of our Cavaliers television team,'' FSN Ohio senior vice president and general manager Steve Liverani said. ''He improved with every game last season, and provided invaluable insight and analysis on the game and the team.''
