There are over 30 weapons in this game. You'll get assault rifles, sniper rifles, pulse weapons and rocket launchers. There are five worlds to explore, all of which look simply amazing. The detail of the textures is more than I was willing to expect from a PSP game. It's runs smooth, even with a lot of action going on at the same time. When you shoot a wall, there's a brief residual glow that spills over it in a cool electric pattern. The Japanese really know how to embellish on mechanical designs and aesthetics and Coded Arms is a testament to that.

As promised, there is a random map generator for the multiplayer which means the locations you play in never look the same. Any of the weapons or items you pick-up in the single player campaign are capable of being taken into the multiplayer mode. You can have up to 4 players at a time, gunning it out in a tight or wide space. I played with everything from an assault rifle, to a flamer thrower that leaves amazing-fierce flames strewn about the world. People were flying everywhere from the force of explosions, and then screaming in frustration when their display chirps out signifying death. And let's not forget the rocket launcher that will leave players broken and dead, anxious to re-spawn for a chance at revenge. There will also be various multiplayer games to play like Capture the Flag, Keep the Mark, Deathmatch, and Last Man Standing.

The overall load times on this game have been tightened up tremendously. With a huge variety of baddies to fight -- aliens, bugs, and vicious robots -- and an incredibly detailed environment to run around in, I'm eagerly waiting to get a hold of a finished copy of this. I really want to play this game all the way through. Coded Arms is still scheduled to release on June 28, 2005 in the U.S., I just hope Konami sticks to it. Stay tuned to the IGN PSP channel for the latest Coded Arms updates.
