Rainbow 6 :Siege

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Because you can blow up walls? I mean, sounds like a great gimmick...for a couple matches. I played the old school Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear, back when that game was actually, you know, tactical. Didn't indulge in the later ones that got dumbed down for the console crowd. If this game has true tactical depth and isn't just "Throw some mines on the wall and blow some holes in this building!" then I will definitely be all over it.

But I'm skeptical.

Anyone who played Rainbow 6 after Raven Shield has every right to be very, very skeptical. UBI really screwed this series up. But I have been following the devs on Reddit. They seem to be serious about returning R6 to its glory days. I hope so. We need a real tactical, thinking mans FPS.

Sign me up.. I used to have Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon tournaments at my old game store...

I remember picking up a recent RB6 game and just setting it down like "wtf...?"

Hope they get back to what made those games great. And wtf happened to Ghost Recon? That was my second favorite FPS behind Halo 2.

Ghost Recon was so freaking good. I remember being so jazzed for that game, because I loved the counterterrorism theme of R6 and they took that into military territory. Game did not disappoint. Was probably about as "realistic" (relative, here) and tactical of a shooter as you can get for that day and age without becoming one of these super simulation games we have now days (Arma? And whatever else there is) that just cross the line in that department. :chuckle:

As for what happened to it, well, they did to Ghost Recon what they did to Rainbow Six. Dumbed it the fuck down, added some shittiness to it, you know. Then it was put out of its misery I assume.

Jesus I remember Rogue Spear like it was yesterday. I went out and bought a $300 Voodoo graphics card and installed it myself at the age of l4 so I could run the game. My internet connection was shit, I lagged, but that freaking game was amazing.

Way, way ahead of its time. Easily top five for me.

I used to love playing Rainbow Six way back in the day.

This may be a dumb ass question since I don't really play games anymore, but I saw on the bottom they have it for Xbox One, does that mean it will not be coming out for the 360, at all?

As I said, I do not play games that much at all, but owuld be willing to pick this up if bad ass. I just don't see myself spending the $$$ on a Xbox One to play something when I am actually free on a weekend for a couple hours.

It might come out on the 360, but it's really up to the developers. The 360 and the Xbox One are very very different platforms under the hood, so there is an inherent cost to backporting to an older console.

So far the Alpha is pretty good. It has its quirks, but hey its an Alpha. If they keep improving it we might have a pretty good shooter.
