Really?

How so? I have not seen it but everyone seems to rave about it.

Hard to explain. I just wasnt that impressed. Ive heard people rant and rave about how it is a great representation on mental illness, but i didnt think it was. It was just about a crazy guy dressed as a clown.
Was too vanilla for me. The movie is down right awkward at times. I could see how people enjoyed it, and it wasnt terrible but was forgettable imo.
I dont know, just wasnt worth the hype in my opinion

I'm with @Bill Walton. on this one. I expected Joker to be a film of the year contender based on the hype, and it just wasn't that good of a movie. Joaquin Phoenix was amazing in it and deserves to be in the discussion for best actor, but the film itself wasn't overly well-written or executed. Vanilla is a great description.

The scene in the studio with Murray was really the only part of the film that stood out to me as well done.

The inclusion of the Waynes' murder was so unnecessary, and just brought about a big eye roll from me.

I swear I've seen Bruce Wayne's parents die on screen at least 45 times at this point.

Watching Ready or Not. Never has Satan worship been so hilarious.

9/10

This movie was great. It's dumb as hell but it knows it and is just fun from start to finish with constant laugh out loud moments. Fitch Bradley was the best. I laughed more during this movie than I do watching most comedies.

Highly recommend it if you're in the mood for a comedy masquerading as a horror flick.

Baby driver, 8.5/10.

Absolutely loved this one. Only 8.5 because the story is very basic and there is not much character development but you're not going to mind when you're watching it.

The movie is about a young guy whos the driver for a crime group. Lots of fast driving action and chases. But it's a great movie because of the music. Like holy shit. It's so well utilized, it definitely makes the movie. Every action matches the beat, so freaking cleverly at times. I've never seen another movie that's main driving force is the music behind everything that happens. Really really satisfying.

I've read someone saying it's like a cross between GTA and La La Land. Not a musical, but lots of cool music.

Highly recommend, super satisfying watch.

1917 - 8.5/10

I really enjoyed this movie. I haven’t seen a movie shot that way before, it was very immersive.

I haven't seen it yet, but my daughter said it was the best movie she ever saw (probably because of how it's shot)

We went to a matinee of this one, and really enjoyed it. The plot is thin, but I have to implore anybody that seeing this on a big screen is the only one way to enjoy it. The director did a constant one take (I think I counted less than five noticeable cuts in the movie) and the way the camera pans and follows puts the viewer in the crowded trenches. Some of the set pieces and battletorn areas are also something to behold. So, even with minimal plot I was still glued to the detail on screen.

I've seen better movies this year, but I totally get how this movie gets the hype it's getting. Definitely worth the ticket price and good way to spend a rainy, cold Saturday.

Saw 1917 with Mrs. Tip over the weekend. Best movie I've seen in a really long time. Obviously "immersive" is the operative term, but the attention to detail was incredible. There were just a lot of small soldier things they got right. One scene where there was a shootout with the sniper, the one character was working his bolt-action rifle like it was part of him. Just moving the action very smoothly and naturally -- sometimes not even looking at it -- as if he'd been doing it for years...which is exactly the level of familiarity that character should have had rather than just being an actor who had only recently learned the weapon. Lots of small touches like that in terms of the way the soldiers acted and interacted with each other than just seemed very genuine.

Nobody in our theater even moved for the first 20-30 seconds after it ended.

Wish I had the same audience you did. Fucking assholes on both sides of me.
