DC can't even get the movie Flash running done correctly. It's so bad I can't come up with a good analogy.

They had the perfect guy cast in the TV show and inexplicably cast the worst possible guy for the Justice League movie instead of using the guy from the show.

This is why Marvel is winning. They have a unified vision from the top down and keep everything mostly consistent between their films and shows. And they hire actual talented directors instead of Zack Snyder.

If I recall that new Flash film is in hell. They've already lost a director and pushed the release date back a couple times.

They have the perfect Barry Allen in Grant Austin but refuse to mix their TV and Cinematic universes for *reasons*.

Not only did they cast the worst choice in Ezra Miller, but they also insulted Gustin along the way when they said "they need someone who can act," outraging a number of their CW stars.

How do you say no to the perfect Barry Allen? Dude is too adorable.

Considering how horrible WW84 is, I don't think a one of them has any clue on how to make these movies. Just terrible.

I am surprised at how bad it is. They did such a good job the last time around.

After doing some research I guess Grant will be in the Flash film (if it is ever made).

But it seems the two Flashes get along.

Ugh, the Snyderverse sucks. Look at that Flash costume. Hated Batman's Iron Man suit.

Was in the mood for a dumb comedy tonight and threw on Dirty Work. The first scene in this movie is amazing.

My daughter is 8. We like to find new movie series to watch.

She's seen Star Wars, all the Marvel, the Mandolorian, and most recently LOTR.

I was thinking about Star Trek but wasn't sure how to approach that. Do we do the movies? I really think if we do the early show, she's going to think it's so bad with the low-tech production values. However, she won't know who is who. Is that important to enjoy the movies you think? I also bear the original movie will bore her to tears and turn her off to it all.

I would try showing her the best 10 or so of the Original Series episodes* (including "Space Seed" which sets up TWOK) and then start her off with Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, then III, IV, VI. Those episodes would be good enough for her to overlook the dated production values and they are less campy.

And then you guys can watch the entire run of the Next Generation and DS9! And then Star Trek: First Contact.

* in my book that would be:

Balance of Terror
The Doomsday Machine
Errand of Mercy
Amok Time
The City on the Edge of Forever
Arena
The Trouble with Tribbles
Journey to Babel
Mirror, Mirror
Space Seed

Edit: You can throw The Ultimate Computer, Day of the Dove and The Squire of Gothos in there. An extra Klingon episode could be helpful since they figure so prominently in the film series.

Thanks for the in-depth response. That sounds like a good plan.

It is noteworthy of how sort of silly the shows were compared to the real quality of the movies.

Those movies are great! Such high production values, incredible model work. Great plots.

Did you know that Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan was Pixar's first work? They did the Genesis Device demonstration sequence.

It's been about 35 years since I watched the original series. Do those episodes you listed need to be watched in order of when they were aired?

Nah, any order, though I’d watch Space Seed last.

anyone know when Tom Hank's news of the world will be available to buy instead fo rent?

Gave Die Hard a rewatch tonight, as it's been ages since I last watched it. Maybe Christmas 2018? I don't know. A long time. The verdict? Still a great fucking movie.

Watching Heat right now. Holy shit did I ever forget the last hour of this movie. I probably haven't seen this movie in ten years, but in my head the climax of the movie was the shootout in the streets following the bank heist. Nope. There's a fucking hour of movie after that. Apparently Natalie Portman tries to kill herself. Did not remember that. Seemed superfluous. Other than that, still a pretty damn good movie, although they probably could have cut at least half an hour.

I watched Heat for the first time probably 5 years ago.

Really good movie, but I agree it was definitely too long.
