I watched Heat for the first time probably 5 years ago.

Really good movie, but I agree it was definitely too long.

Yeah, three hours is really pushing it for anything that isn't an epic.

Still a really well made movie, though. Some gorgeous, iconic shots and the post bank heist shootout is one of the best in heist movie history.

I really like what they were going for with DeNiro abandoning his love interest at the end of the movie, as it jived with his philosophy of never having anything you weren't willing to abandon in thirty seconds if things go south. The issue is that it feels like they just met like a week and a half ago. That scene would have had far more impact if it felt like those two had a serious, established relationship and DeNiro still just walked away at the drop of a hat.

I think my favorite Michael Mann movie is Collateral and I'd HIGHLY recommend it to anyone that hasn't seen it.

It is certainly better-paced than Heat and one of the rare cases where Tom Cruise plays the "bad guy" and he just eats up every scene he is in - one of his performances that flew under the radar for some reason.

To me, that is peak Mann. Heat gets a lot of acclaim for it's sound editing but Collateral is much better, IMO.

I've seen Collateral and remember enjoying it, although I don't think it has as many memorable scenes as Heat does, and certainly nothing as iconic as the post heist shootout. The only scene I remember is the night club scene, which was pretty badass and had awesome music.

I'll have to rewatch it though.

Gave Die Hard a rewatch tonight, as it's been ages since I last watched it. Maybe Christmas 2018? I don't know. A long time. The verdict? Still a great fucking movie.

Watching Heat right now. Holy shit did I ever forget the last hour of this movie. I probably haven't seen this movie in ten years, but in my head the climax of the movie was the shootout in the streets following the bank heist. Nope. There's a fucking hour of movie after that. Apparently Natalie Portman tries to kill herself. Did not remember that. Seemed superfluous. Other than that, still a pretty damn good movie, although they probably could have cut at least half an hour.
I watched Die Hard 1 and 2 the other week, or month, maybe even before the new year(it's all a blur).

Still need to watch 3 again, after that it's pointless to watch any of the other sequels.

Heat and Collateral are great films(among many other great films that he has done), but Last of the Mohicans is his best work, IMO.

I think the first scene where you see what Cruise's character is capable of is absolutely wild. Definitely revisit it.

edit: it might be the second scene (without trying to spoil it for anyone) but it takes place in the alleyway.

Recently watched The Deer Hunter for the first time.

It's the story of a group of friends struggling to survive in the most horrible situation imaginable...Pittsburgh. It's only by going to war and playing Russian roulette with the enemy that they can finally feel alive and like life has meaning. Also nice to finally fully understand a great Always Sunny scene that references this flick.

Overall, not a bad movie, but holy shit this did not need to be three hours long. The opening wedding scene felt like it went on for a fucking eternity. Edit that shit down, bro.

Collateral really opens one's eyes about Cruise's range.

The other film that does that is Tropic Thunder of course.

Rubio, a career 11 & 7 guy, has played in 11 playoff games. In his 1st playoff stint the Jazz won 1 more game than the season before. They then proceeded to lose in the opening round his 2nd year. I'd look into his win % , but I'm guessing it's way below .500 given the amount of lotto picks the Wolves had in his time there.

His shooting percentage is tied for the lowest of his career at .356. His career highlight was looking like a great prospect when he was 17.

But he's been around awhile so let's just say he is a good leader.

I love that movie
