Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So I watched the first 4 parts of Snyder's Justice League last night before I fell asleep, and the movie so far is just not good. I hadn't seen the original release, so I don't have that frame of reference, but this version of the film just feels like a pure Snyder indulgence (and not in a good way).

The egregiously excessive use of slow mo for every fucking action scene and a whole host of other scenes that have no logical or theatrical reason for occurring in slow mo is so incredibly off-putting. No wonder the movie clocks in at over 4 hours. When you use slow mo shots in literally every other scene it loses all impact and quickly becomes an annoyance. Aquaman leaving the ocean? Slow mo. Aquaman entering ocean? Slow mo. Lois Lane walking down street? Slow mo. Wonder Woman standing in hallway with wind blowing? Slow mo. Batman sitting on a building? Slow mo. Enough. Stop it. Get some help.

I also have to say that the soundtrack for this movie is atrocious. Every time a song starts playing all I could think was either "wow this song is really, really bad" or "wow, this song does not fit this scene at all." The Wonder Woman trademark wailing noise is particularly grating. It almost feels like they're trying to satirize that classic DC tone of "I'm 14 and this is deep, life is pain". But they aren't. It's just bad.

And a special mention for the Flash in this movie and the dude who plays him. He's awful and the character is awful. Every time he's featured in a scene alone I'm anxiously counting the seconds until it's over. The Cyborg dude isn't much better as I'm not sure 'mean face sulking under hoodie' as a performance lends much weight to his tragic backstory. But apparently he didn't even have a backstory before Snyder's cut, so +1 I guess? Gal Gadot is doing the bare minimum of acting. And just in general, the acting and script just leave a lot to be desired across the board.

It's not the worst movie I've ever seen, and I'm not surprised a lot of DC fans really enjoyed this version. But I am surprised that anyone would call this monstrosity a good film in its own right. But hey, maybe the third act is a completely different movie and my mind will be blown at the end.

I assume it's better than the original (can it really be worse?), but you can only polish a turd so much.

I'll watch it at some point, but I just find the DC movies to be so boring. It's like they're trying to do what Marvel is doing, but no one can figure out how to write any of their characters. Like, they had an epic fight between Batman and Superman and they somehow figured out how to blow it. These guys are clown shoes.

This is what I would have typed out if I had the energy to type 5 paragraphs.

I know it's not part of the DCEU, but Dark Knight trilogy was oustanding. It's also an example of why they don't need to copy marvel.

First wonder woman movie was great, I'm not sure what they were thinking with the second one. They're completely missing a unified vision of where things are headed and how they fit together. They're also trying too hard to be Marvel instead of finding their own identity.

Yeah, they probably shouldn't try to copy Marvel, but they're going to keep chasing that sweet, sweet cinematic universe money. Everyone is because of how much money Marvel has made off of it.

DC is one of the few creative properties that's actually in a position to do it and have it make sense, but until they hire someone competent to oversee the whole thing it's going to be more Star Wars than Marvel.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts.

And there are just some lapses in logic.

If Ares easily defeated Darkseid, and Wonder Woman beat him, and is more or less something of a match for Steppenwolf, why would they need Superman?

If they simply set about beating him they could have.

This film, like the new "Star Wars" films suffer from the hack writing style of "characters do something out of character and completely illogical and irrational so something can happen."

And the MacGuffin in this film is really stupid. They don't need those stupid boxes to conquer the planet, or reformat it. And they spend so much time worrying about it, but then simply forget about the last one when it lands on a car?

And Ezra Miller is the worst possible Flash. He is fucking annoying. No charisma and actively grating. And the Flash is wasted as a character and has virtually nothing to do until the end. With the Flash they should have no issues at all with anything. He is a Speedster and they are among the most powerful beings around. Flash alone could defeat idiot Steppenwolf. Should have used Grant Gustin and dug into the multiverse early.

Overall this film was never going to be good. One detects the hand of Warner Bros. rushing and noting their whole universe. They could have built something different than the MCU. Instead they decided to skip 4-5 films and rush a crossover film before half their team was even established and made a bad imitation that reeks too much of trying to differentiate through the cliched tropes of "gritty" and "dark."

Bleck to the extreme. I'm going to watch some Arrow, with Stephen Amell on the salmon ladder (the real hero of that show), and Grant Gustin being adorable to cleanse my pallet.

James Gunn directing. Can that make this an actual good movie? Also, does this gloss over previous versions or are there just different iterations of the Suicide Squad?

The Suicide Squad is typically composed of random groups of DC villains. It's not always the same group. I'm assuming this is a full sequel given all the returning cast members. They just replaced Will Smith with Idris Elba and figured nobody would notice.

It's a soft reboot. And looks like it will be great fun

Coming to America 2 - Overall a solid 7.5 out of 10.

The scenes in the barbershop: 10/10. Arsenio and Eddie had some great improv jokes. My wife finally figured out the old Jewish guy is Eddie Murphy.

The long awaited reunion of Randy Watson and Sexual Chocolate: 1,000/10.

So I watched Zach Snyder's Justice League last weekend and had not seen any of the DC Extended Universe movies going into, other than Suicide Squad and the Harley Quinn movie- which had no real relevance to Justice League

I wouldn't say it was a good movie, but it had its enjoyable parts. The movie was very over the top, the amount of slo mo was outrageously tiresome, Ezra Miller's Flash character is beyond terrible, 30 min epilogue with just painful dialogue, etc. Although I have to say the post-apocalyptic, Superman-warlord world does intrigue me.

However, in the last day I started the original Justice League. Zach Snyder's version is head and shoulders significantly the better movie. I'm not sure how fair it is to compare the two when Snyder's is twice as long and had the benefit of knowing what did and didn't work for audiences and critics. But good lord the original is an abomination.

That's kinda the way to look at this movie is a comparison to the original. It's heads and shoulders better. I would really like to see Snyder continue making movies is this universe. I dont think we're going to and with the death of cinemas looming you would think he'd have the freedom to make these movies with the vision and length he envisions.
His "cuts" are always better than the studio releases they're just not possible in theatric releases.

Actually, it is a reboot, not a sequel. Not a continuation of the first movie. They just kept a couple of castings that worked.

Anyone watch Godzilla v. Kong? All my buddies are saying they liked it a lot. At least for what it appears to be -- a mindless giant monster movie which should be fun. I'm gonna be watching tonight.

Also, I am super hyped for Mortal Kombat in a few weeks. I think there is story telling potential in that Universe if done right. I haven't bought a Mortal Kombat game in a while (don't really like fighting games), but I always watch the cutscene movies on Youtube when one comes out and those are enjoyable.

Watched Gozilla V. Kong last night with my 7-year old. It was decent. Wouldn't pay to go to movies and see it, but watchable. I'd give it a 6.5/10.
