This is 40 isn’t the greatest movie of all time, but it’s really fuckin relatable. The Apatow girls were so great in it, stole the show.

I have an 8 year old son and a 2 year old daughter. The older asshole girl reminds me of my 8 year old niece and my 2 year old daughter is following right in her footsteps. I’ve said so many of the same things Paul Rudd does to my kids.

Have had so many of the same experiences as the parents

Almost a decade late to the party, but I’ve watched Whiplash twice in the last twelve hours. 10/10. Absolute masterpiece.

That is funny, my son has really gotten into movies, 15 years old. Whiplash is one of his favorites, so he made me watch it and it was great. I just watched it for the first time 2 weeks ago myself.

And for the record, right now he says Taxi Driver is his favorite movie.

I love that movie and I love that its not a sequel but a spin off, lol

Just saw it and I don't get it. It's 13 years after Avatar 1, and that movie would still be groundbreaking if released today.

And even with 13 years and the audience conditioned to expect unbelievable visual technology from the film, he comes out with something even more impressive than the first?

Right after the film ended, I felt like no one had ever done underwater scenes properly before this. Everything about the underwater scenes were just spectacular, it's a must watch in theaters just for that. With the high frame rate trick some of the swimming scenes felt like an ad for TVs at best buy, but they were so breathtaking that I didn't mind at all.
The story was ok, but my god the visuals were almost impossible to describe. There were times in which I almost felt like I was right there in the movie. By far the most incredible 3D experience ever. I’m sure my lack of expectation played a role, but still, the effects were astonishing.

That’s a very cool coincidence, and your son has good taste!

Not a movie, but my wife and I attended an Elton John concert a couple months ago in Pgh. The visuals some of you are describing where it felt like you were right there is what we experienced with his stuff.

Not sure if there’s a name for whatever the current technology is, but it’s astounding.

Elton was fine, not mindblowing. He was selling annuities at the beginning of the show, very bizarre.

I think we need to see more from Cena first. Bautista has been pretty great in everything he's been in, and he's actually putting in effort to be a legitimate actor and taking on a wide variety of roles. It remains to be seen if Cena goes the same route or if he falls into the same category as Rock where he just takes on the same role again and again in the name of making money rather than challenging himself or trying to be in films that are more than brain dead popcorn flicks.

Cena was awesome in Peacemaker / TSS though.
Yeah, even though it was a small part, Bautista really showed his acting potential in Bladerunner 2049.

I find this hilarious because I just watched Whiplash for the first time about a month ago because my 11 year old is on a movie kick in which he’s watching critically acclaimed films regardless of whether it is a domestic or foreign film. The last 3 films he watched were Parasite, City of God, and La haine. That kid is way more smarter and cultured than I.

In an unmovie related note, he wanted a record player for Christmas, but not for scratching. The list of albums he wants includes every sing Tyler the Creator record since he’s his favorite musician. I question sometimes whether that boy is really mine. Thank god he has my hairline.

I believe you :chuckle:

Bullet Train was fun, 6/10.

I want to read the book now.
