She has an unquestioned fan base who love her comedy. My wife liked her stand up work and then got into her show Nora from Queens. Along with bringing in rising British star Florence Pugh for Black Widow, I see Marvel snatching up any rising female comedy prospect instead of just the hottest looking actress, hoping to widen their audience.

Anyways, saw Ghostbusters: Afterlife last night. Strong 8/10, openly shed a tear at one point. They figured out how to bridge a dormant franchise into the future correctly. Credit for to Bron and the studios for backing a reboot that could churn out three or four sequels.
Interestingly this script has been in the works since 'answer the call' reitman met with Columbia and was told to put a pin in it for a few years. I really enjoyed it and thought it was probably better than Ghostbusters 2.

Watched Looper the other night, 8/10. It looked interesting when they were advertising it 9 years ago, but I'm not really a moviegoer so I never saw it until now. It was a pretty unique story that kept me engaged the whole time despite Gordon-Levitt's face looking off.

Watched The Matrix Resurrection tonight.

I just don't know why this had to be made. It wasn't a part of the story that needed to be told. I don't know. If was just there. I guess it was enjoyable at times and had some decent fan service/references to the originals, but the movie on the whole was pretty forgetable.

Definitely did not need to be made - and obviously self-aware about it throughout much of the movie.

But I did like it - Keanu and Moss make it work well.

It wasn't as horrifically bad as the sequels but, as you said, it's just kind of there. It doesn't really do anything new or interesting, aside from being too meta.

I did enjoy the joke about how Warner was going to make more Matrix sequels whether Keanu and his boss (aka the Wachowskis) wanted in or not.

I also thought the Matrix Resurrections was just ok. It was mostly interesting and entertaining to me, but I thought the ending was kind of weak.

Don't Look Up. Streamed on Netflix, it was awful. Imagine a much less funny Mars Attacks. Brutally bad.

Went in with low expectations for Don't Look Up but thought it was pretty damn funny and hit the nail on the head for its intended message. I'll leave it at that as to not get political outside of the politics forum. Biggest complaint is it was 20-30 min too long. 84/100

This post made me rewatch Looper.

My wife said JGL didn’t look like JGL almost immediately. Still one of my favorite movies from a concept standpoint. It should have had a prequel, mostly about Rainmaker.

It was a little more on the nose than I like my satire… disappointed as I expected more out of a script from Adam McKay. Leo and JLaw took a kinda weak script and made it something, worth the watch in that regard.

6.5/10

I liked the message of Don't Look Up, but the comedy and the flow of the movie was pretty bad. Felt like a loose string of moments with characters that are generally unlikeable and bland. Giving some really great actors just absolute shit dialogue and way too much time to get the point.

This movie feels like I wrote it while off my adderall. Feel the same about this as I did about that other netflix movie, I Care a Lot. Had a promising idea and completely wasted it. If it gets people talking about climate change, then misson accomplished I guess.

Thought Don't Look Up was a solid 7, but like many are saying, just too disjointed of a movie.

Watching the new Matrix now and this is awful. I might even stop watching halfway through it's so bad.

Trailer looked great, I thought it was terrible. I guess I'm not the target audience.

Ray Donovan, the movie. Anyone who followed the seven seasons of the series needs to watch this movie, which wraps up the Ray and Mickey Donovan story. Flashbacks reveal all the sordid details that created this disastrous father/son relationship. I give it a solid 8.5, but you need to be a fan of the series. Showtime canceled the series before the eighth season, which was intended to be its conclusion. This movie crams the planned final season into 100 minutes. Its on Showtime.
