Were you thinking Browns 24/7? dawgtalkers.net? Might have been one or two more....

It was so long ago, but that is not it. He was an original poster here, well before we had Browns Coverage, and I thought it was @Jordan who was the poster. Then when he took over the Browns section it made sense to me, but this was 15 years ago. It had good intentions, but was nowhere close to the RBF is now, and a stayed with it a couple of years, but soon they were talking Browns here and I didnt like going to another site.

@Damage Did you ever run a Browns message board like 15 years ago or am i confusing you with someone else?

@natedagg @Out of the Rafters at the Q

Thank you! All of these suggestions make sense. It definitely helps with an issue I raised with James - we’re at the mercy of our guests.

The Bills guy we had on was great and not dissimilar to the Ravens guy. But both of those were known quantities to us, whereas the Bears guy was not. Tomorrow we’re interviewing someone that covers the Lions and another NFC team (I forget which). I think we may try and implement some of these ideas.

At this point, we’re treating a lot of this as practice for the Browns to start. Any feedback you guys have is greatly appreciated. It’ll help improve the content come the real season.

Bro I am trying to get you some sponsorships! Gotta have the sweet content. Going to try to get the Bills one in at some point this week.
Excited to see you run w some of these ideas. Don’t forget if the episode is good, go find the team-specific pages and just sign up and drop it in there. Why not?

That’s a great idea, actually! Thank you!

You dumb bastard. You have new eps and didn’t put it in here. What am I going to tell our agent?!?
Haha, sorry, forgot! It’s been a crazy week. The last one I thought went well. The one before that sucked bc we forgot about it and had to scramble.

funny bc I liked the one before.
that Tampa bay guy - not a fan. It was just a Brady slobberfest. Not like I disagree w him but it just dragged on.
I liked the next one where you guys were just rapping about the Browns. I thought it had that “fly on the wall” listen - like you guys were having a beer on the couch and the listener got to hear it.

I didn’t even know you had another one on Monday, you dumb bastard. I guess I am a dumb bastard too, but I don’t let many push notifications through my phone.

Get out a sheet of paper or open a google doc and make yourself a process. You put a lot of work into this and part of that is letting people know about it. So after production cuts (?) and upload or whatever, you have to ping it out systematically to at least a few different places. You owe it to yourself honestly.

And keep hunting for your guests for the season. Ask your favorite guests who they know from other squads. Build that list and release every Sunday at 10AM or something. Game previews. Have a hard cutoff of 30-60 mins (your call) and just get used to a pace, even if you don’t always hit your goals on it. I think users would appreciate some form of cadence and expectations being set (“oh it’s Sunday (whatever day), let me hit that browns preview podcast for 45 mins”).

I would also pimp that Chubb article on Twitter/social for feedback and follows, and make it super easy for the reader to subscribe/find the podcast from there (maybe you did, I forget).

Re: Twitter. I heard something that stuck w me: tweets get likes and tweet threads get followers. You can repurpose your charts and a few blurbs and tag some outlier teams’ message boards/influencers for opinions.

-An idea crossed my mind while I listen to this Chubb episode: have an AMA episode before the season starts - people can submit questions or comments beforehand - you just need to hit up all of Browns twitter and various fan spots. Make sure to say their twitter handles if you pick their questions, or whatever - shout out the asker/commenter. It would be dope to get them to call/zoom in, but that's a logistical headache - even if they call separately and then you splice it, that's a lot of work.
-I would rock some fucking dope rock song intro instead of that synth thing. I have the perfect song but don't know the name, standby.

@Jordan - as always, just suggestions. Take it or leave it!

here's the song - listen to this intro. Hot damn!

When I saw the Nuge at a show in 2003 or so, he said "some of you assholes out there think that Cat Scratch Fever has the greater guitar riff of all time. It doesn't -- but you're pretty fucking close...."

Then he broke into Stranglehold. Place went nuts.

He also shot a flaming arrow into a giant poster of Saddam Hussein. :chuckle: :chuckle:

Yea, awesome riff Nate...actually used to play when I would walk into some of the bars. I like the opening to Back in Black too (almost used it as our intro's into the reception hall for our wedding). So many great riffs out there - and Stranglehold has an awesome sound that can be lowered after the initial opening, then open the sound for the talking heads. Fuckin Dazed & Confused!!!!!!

Cavern by Liquid Liquid. Epic entrance music:

You are welcome.

Also that awesome drum fill on Stranglehold's intro.

Yeah, I have tried doing that on my own Twitter (sports_by_stats) and James has as well. I think Keys pumped it out a few times on the RBF Twitter, too.

We are recording and releasing every Monday and Thursday. I think we are going to shift to Sunday (post-game) and keep the Thursday slot, as it lets us record with most of the info.

One idea we were thinking of is doing a live call-in show before games. Would that be of interest?

We have to watch for copyright violations. Any lawyer have thoughts to avoid that problem?

I play guitar and can easily record something, but sound quality won’t be good enough, imo.

Thank you so much!!
