With the 37th pick, The Philadelphia Eagles select Asante Samuel Jr, Cornerback, Florida State.

The Eagles bring back a member of the Samuels family with high hopes Jr. can achieve similar success. In much need of cornerback help, Samuels Jr. brings day one starter talent and excellent zone coverage skills that will pair well with new defensive coordinator, Jonathan Gannon’s scheme. Eyeing a quick turnaround in a week division, the Eagles successfully plug two huge holes with their first two picks.

@JDailey23 the Bengals are on the clock.

With the 38th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select:

Jalen Mayfield*, OT, Michigan
Height: 6-5. Weight: 319.
Projected 40 Time: 5.1.
Projected Round (2021): 1-2.
View Ranking History
3/6/21: Mayfield was solid in 2020, but not dominant, plus missed time with injuries. He showed a lack of judgement or doing due diligence in signing with CAA, the agency that aided Harvey Weinstein. Mayfield has the quality strength, athleticism, and quickness to be a starting right tackle in the NFL.

8/29/20: Perhaps the only offensive linemen who was truly impressive versus Chase Young in 2019 was Michigan's Jalen Mayfield. In plenty of one-on-one matchups, Mayfield got the better of Young, and there were other plays where Young had Mayfield on the ropes but the young Wolverine was able to recover in time to keep Young from making his typical game changing plays. It was a breakout performance for the Wolverines right tackle to conclude the regular season.

What really jumps out about Mayfield is his quickness and athleticism on the edge to neutralize speed rushers. Mayfield is very quick out of his stance as he fires back or forward with explosion off the ball. With speed and agility, Mayfield instantly gets good depth in his drop and is able to play the typewriter with his feet to mirror speed rushers.

In the ground game, Mayfield is a solid contributor at the point of attack. He is not an overpowering road grader like Brandon Scherff was coming out of Iowa, and Mayfield is not as good of a run blocker as Andrew Thomas was at Georgia or Jedrick Wills was at Alabama, but Mayfield is dependable to execute his assignment. He has the strength to control, turn, and manipulate defenders at the point of attack. Mayfield is quick to the second level and able to kick out to the perimeter.

There are aspects of Mayfield's game that need improvement, and he should improve his technique for taking on NFL defensive linemen. At times, Mayfield lunges after defenders, which can get his weight too far over his toes. That leads to him missing some blocks in space especially. There are also times where he gives up up ground in bull rushes. He gets too wide with his hands, and that allows defenders to get into his chest to rock him back.

@G00seY3 and the Carolina Panthers are on the clock.

With the 39th Pick in the 2021 RealCavsFans NFL Mock Draft, the Carolina Panthers select... Pat Freiermuth!!! TE, Penn State!

patreiermuth.jpg

College: Penn State

Height: 6'5"

Weight: 258 lbs

Pat Freiermuth of Penn State has the exact makeup of what a tight end should look like in Matt Rhule's offense. He's a tough, physical tight end that seeks contact which makes him arguably the best blocking tight end in this draft. As good of a blocker he is, don't overlook his ability to be a threat over the middle of the field and in the red zone.

Penn State tight end Pat Freiermuth doesn’t shy away from the “Baby Gronk” nickname. He’s from Massachusetts, wears the same No. 87, and is similarly athletic in the open field. He's going to be another great NFL tight end from Penn State. Though not quite as acrobatic Mike Gesicki, a fellow former Nittany Lion, Freiermuth (6-5) might be a better overall tight end in the NFL. He’s a red-zone terror (school-record 16 touchdowns among tight ends), makes difficult catches, and is valuable as the mismatch-against-linebackers offensive weapon. Further, Freiermuth is as physical as any tight end in the draft. He blocks well and enjoys it, certainly an old-school asset at the position. Freiermuth ended his senior season after four games to undergo shoulder surgery and should be fine for training camp.

With the 40th selection in the 2021 RCF Mock draft, The Denver Broncos select:

Jackson Carmen - Offensive tackle, Clemson:
Denver needs to improve it’s offensive line and it can’t ignore the potential value a physical talent like Carmen can offer in the long term. While the front office did recognize an elite quarterback prospect (in its opinion) it wants to ensure that a desirable prospect is protected upon arrival — not experience the DeShaun Watson career paths. You don’t want to be causing your quarterbacks to know more message therapists on speed dial than a human trafficking task force.

the length of definitely concerning; not sure it’s ideal for being on the outside and blind side of your quarterback; but we feel like there’s adequate athleticism, effort and talent to justify the slot.

By the numbers:

6'5", 317 pounds. 32-1/2" arms per pro day measurements.

2020: Second-team All-ACC, second-team All-American selection.

SI: they think I reached apparently oh well

With the Tigers, Carman did a good job protecting college football's prized possession in Trevor Lawrence. His Ohio State tape stands out the most. He has great hands and overall power for the tackle position, although his eventual home remains unclear. He has the tools to be successful no matter what, even if he may be better suited to play on the inside. Carman grades out as an early third-round pick and a top 75 player overall.

With the 41st Overall Pick in the 2021 RealCavsFans Mock Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select:

Tommy Tremble - TE - Notre Dame

5f66bc52b42d3.image.jpg

Ex1WtesWYAUqYb7

My Take: Urban Meyer has vowed to fix the TE position, and Tremble is the clear TE2 in this class.

Punishing blocker and a 8.8 RAS athlete who can do a number of versatile things in the receiving game. He's been an H-Back at Notre Dame, but would assume the F role in the Jags offense. With the Jags getting Trevor Lawrence, they'll be able to do a number of things off the zone read, RPO, play-action and especially shotgun. Tremble can move all over the field as a weapon in the Dallas Clark/George Kittle mold.

The Draft Network:
Tommy Tremble projects as an F-tight end in the NFL—a flex weapon that will be best served in an offense that doesn’t charge him with playing with his hand in the dirt. Tremble is a plus athlete who offers the long speed and agility to be dynamic as a pass-catcher, but his production to this point has yet to make the leap that you’d want to see to feel confident that he’s going to develop into an upper-level tight end at some point. Tremble has spent his career at Notre Dame caught behind the likes of Cole Kmet and 2020 freshman star Michael Mayer; he’s been the TE2 who is charged with moving around the set or blocking on the perimeter to set up runs and screens to the outside. Tremble’s potential is significant and his effort as a role player has been admirable, so you’ll feel fairly good that Tremble has the right makeup to stick as a developmental player while working himself into a more prominent role as he continues to mature.

Ideal Role: F-alignment tight end.

Scheme Fit: High motion, high volume perimeter concepts, high play-action passing ratio.

With the 42nd pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the New York Giants select

Carlos Basham Jr, Edge, Wake Forest

Basham_C_Getty_1174531821.jpg

HEIGHT: 6' 3"
WEIGHT: 281 lbs
ARMS: 32.5”
HANDS: 9.125”

As a redshirt freshman, Basham started once in 13 appearances (24 tackles, two for loss, two fumble recoveries). He took over as a starter in 12 games the following season, leading his squad with 11 tackles for loss (64 total tackles, 4.5 sacks).

Basham took his game to the next level in 2019. He topped the Deacs with 18 tackles for loss and 11 sacks among his 57 total stops, also breaking up three passes and forcing three fumbles on his way to first-team All-ACC accolades. He managed third-team all-conference honors as a senior despite seeing the best of opponents on an undermanned defense.

Basham started seven games in 2020, leading the squad with five sacks (28 tackles overall, 5.5 for loss) despite missing time to recover from COVID-19. He opted out of his team's bowl game to prepare for the NFL.

BIGGEST STRENGTH

  • Prodigious Power

BIGGEST WEAKNESS

  • Down-To-Down Consistency

PROS

  • Prodigious explosiveness. 285-pounders shouldn't have his get-off.
  • Agility you wouldn't expect. Has inside moves where OTs don't even touch him.
  • When he wants to be a bully, the pocket collapses.
  • Quick to lock out long arms against opposing blockers and sheds with ease.

CONS

  • Gets too cute for a 285-pound defensive end. Often plays like he's 40 pounds lighter.
  • Looked too big in 2020. Explosiveness wasn't the same compared to 2019.
  • Almost never came off the field, but effectiveness suffered. Tired reps on tape.
  • Lackadaisical hands. Too content playing pattycake.

With the 43rd Pick, the San Francisco 49ers select...
CUShowcase_NikeRoom_Photos_TravisEtienne_-5-scaled.jpg

Etienne2.gif

Etienne.gif

Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson
Height: 5'10 Weight 215 lbs.
Arms: 30.125 Hands: 9.375
40yd. Dash: 4.41

According to Chad Reuter of NFL.com:

Etienne (pronounced EE-tee-ehn) rushed for nearly 5,400 yards in his final two seasons at Jennings High School. As a true freshman, Etienne led Clemson in rushing despite not starting any of his 13 appearances (107 carries, 766 yards, 7.2 ypc, 13 touchdowns; five receptions, 57 yards, 11.4 average; team-high 19 kick returns, 389 yards, 20.5 average). The 2018 Doak Walker Award finalist started all 15 games that season and tied the ACC record with 26 total touchdowns (12 receptions, 78 yards, 6.5 average, two touchdowns). Etienne was also the ACC Player of the Year as a sophomore after setting a school record with 1,658 yards and 24 touchdowns rushing on 204 carries (8.1 per) for the national champions. He was named a second-team Associated Press All-American and ACC Player of the Year in 2019 after bringing the Tigers back to the national title game with 1,614 yards and 19 touchdowns on 207 carries (7.8 per) while also catching 37 passes for 432 yards (11.7 per) and four scores in 15 starts. Etienne also set the Clemson school career rushing record during the season. He surprised most everyone by announcing he would return to Clemson for the 2020 season after excelling in his first three years on campus. He garnered first-team Associated Press All-American and first-team All-ACC honors at running back (168 carries, 913 yards, 5.4 ypc) and as an all-purpose performer (48 receptions, 588 yards, 12.3 average, two touchdowns; eight kick returns, 189 yards, 23.6 average; one punt return, 44 yards). The Doak Walker and Paul Hornung Award finalist started all 12 games on the year, tying for seventh in the FBS with 14 rushing touchdowns and setting the ACC mark for career rushing yards with 4,952.

Why would the 49ers possibly do this?

I changed my strategy for the franchise once the actual front office made a splash move for a developmental quarterback in the first round. This is no longer a team looking to ride a top three defense and balanced offense into another NFC championship. Kyle Shanahan is looking to get his guys in on offense and blow teams out.

Jimmy G. goes from pouting as the bridge quarterback to the guy in his prime with better weapons than he will ever have again. All he needs to do is stay healthy and win.

Raheem Mostert is still a great story and a better runner in a committee. He's a guy who went from special teams ace to a first and second down runner. The problem was all the high-priced free agent speed backs who were dinged up. Etienne bumps the 28 year old Mostert back into a supporting role with his speed, greatly improved receiving chops, and ideal fit for the wide zone running scheme.

With the 41st Overall Pick in the 2021 RealCavsFans Mock Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select:

Elijah Moore - WR - OleMiss
ExWJwmWWgAA6wK8

My Take: Adding Tremble fills the role of the F tight end, Moore comes on board to become an immensely dangerous slot receiver who will grow and develop alongside his fellow rookie QB/TE.

In absolutely no rush to make an immediate impact, with Chark and FA addition Marvin Jones being established weapons that he can play alongside and learn from. Leviska Shenault also will get a ton of run as the slot, but can move all over the field and present a number of matchup problems for that offense.

Moore is elite elite short area quickness. Cleanly separates against nearly everyone, including Jaycee Horn when the two matched up last year.

One of the most fun players in the draft, to me, with the chance to develop into an impact player.

The Draft Network:
Elijah Moore has aligned outside and in the slot. He is a dynamic athlete with excellent agility and quickness. In the passing game, he is still a little raw as a route-runner but is a threat to score whenever he touches the ball. He demonstrates the toughness to catch the ball in traffic. He won't give you much as a stalk blocker in the run game. He is always a big-play threat due to his excellent run after catch potential.

Ideal Role: Bottom of the roster slot receiver and kick returner.

Scheme Fit: Any offensive system.
