Alright, folks, it's time to kick this thing off. First, though, a couple of "rules", if you will:
  1. When you pick, post justification for your first round pick(s). Provide some detail in why you made the pick, post a picture, highlight videos, whatever. Just try to avoid putting a name down and moving on. This thread can be an education on prospects, which is good if you're an NFL fan.
  2. After you make a selection, please send a private message to the next person drafting. I would say to tag the poster, but I haven't been getting some tags. Please PM. Try to keep a eye on the thread in case someone does forget to PM.
  3. Try to check back here on the daily if you know your pick is coming soon. Quicker picks means we go deeper into the 3rd round or longer.
  4. Trades MUST be reasonable. You can discuss trades with anyone whether or not they have indicated they'd be open to it.
With that said, LFG!

With the 1st Overall Pick in the 2021 RealCavsFans Mock Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select:

Trevor Lawrence - QB - Clemson

USATSI_13763114.jpg

My Take: This isn't a huge surprise, but Trevor Lawrence is good. A legitimate dual threat athlete at the next level, his underrated athleticism really helps set him apart from quite a few other "generational prospect" types.

As a passer, he is already among the most NFL-ready talents to enter the league since Andrew Luck, and Lawrence is almost unquestionably more talented.

Can get the ball to any area of the field with ease, with excellent "off-platform" skills which make him a threat from inside the pocket and out. Has ample experience with NFL concepts, and has very few glaring weaknesses to his game.

Makes his share of mental mistakes, the occasional early bailout from a clean pocket, the things you'd expect from every young QB. No glaring weaknesses and will continue cleaning up his footwork and ball positioning pre-throw.

One of the best all around prospects in NFL history, and should be a day one starter at the next level.

The Draft Network: Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence is among the most exceptional talents at the quarterback position to ever enter the NFL. He blends elite physical gifts with exceptional football IQ, leadership traits, and intangibles that make him the type of talent that would be the No. 1 overall selection in almost any draft. Lawrence is accurate with the football to all levels of the field and brings a dynamic athletic profile to the table—which allows him to extend plays, work off-script, and present a nightmare for opponents to defend. While Lawrence is a premier talent, he isn’t without room to grow, particularly in terms of consistency working through progressions. With three seasons of experience as the starter at Clemson, which includes a College Football Playoff appearance every year, Lawrence is equipped to take control of an NFL offense from Day 1 and has the upside to become one of the most dynamic players in the entire NFL.

The New York Jets are now on the clock...

@adam81king

I have to admit: this caught me by surprise....I did not see it coming.

With the 2nd Overall Pick in the 2021 RealCavsFans Mock Draft, the New York Football Jets select:

ZACHARY KAPONO WILSON - 6'3" gunslinging Mormon from BYU.

Why? Have you seen him throw a Football? The Andy Reid influence is obvious. The ability to throw from any arm angle. The above average athleticism. The howitzer attached to his shoulder.

The only downside is the incredibly punchable face***. Thankfully he'll be wearing a face mask, so it may not be an issue.

Also, the Jets are open for business with Mr Bad Face (Sam Darnold) available. Come make a deal you pancake eating MFers.

The San Francisco 49ers select...

Trey Lance - QB of the North Dakota State Bison.

6'3, 221 pounds
Walter Payton Award and Jerry Rice Award Winner of 2019.

Why?

This pick is probably going to happen, and all the Buckeye faithful have to at least hear the Niners out. This guy is just as mobile, just as big and strong... and he doesn't lock in on his first option the way Justin Fields locks in.

Lance was recruited to be a safety everywhere in the Big Ten, but opted to be a QB in the same program that developed Carson Wentz. It was an unquestioned success in 2019 as he picked up multiple awards for national player of the year. He threw for 28 touchdowns and zero interceptions in a pro-style offense... only to see his league forgo the 2020 season.

pick #4 on the board, @raiders91sc

Cincinnati willing to listen to offers for pick #5.

The Atlanta Falcons select...

page46image178164912
Justin Fields QB

6-3 228

The Ohio State Univesity

WHY?

THE #1 reason is accuracy. The kid is one of the most accurate QB PFF has ever charted. Kinda the same reason the Brown's took Mayfield. Atlanta was praying the 49ers took Trey Lance. Both are in same class as an athlete but the Trey kid has played no competition or shown anything on film while Justin has 2 years of film and played against the best of the best. Atlanta is good at QB for at least 2 more years with Ryan and Fields won't have to play right away. Atlanta took offers for the 4th pick but decided the current offers weren't enough for a future all pro QB. One big factor in this decision making process was the current status of NFC South QB picture. Saints are moving off HOF Brees, Carolina has journey man Bridgewater, and the Bucs have 90 year old Brady. With Ryan at QB the next 2 years the Falcons have the 2nd best QB in Division and then when Fields takes over and the 90 year old Brady finally retires then Atlanta will have the best QB in Division. Green Bay has shown it is better to have 2 HOF QBs on ur roster rather than none.

PFF Scouting Report:

You'll hear about the knocks on Fields throughout this draft process, from the track record of Ohio State quarterbacks to his ugly games against Indiana and Northwestern to his slow processing and decision-making. I'm not here to say those concerns aren't valid, but the physical tools and leadership he brings to the position are too great to ignore. Over the course of his career, Fields has been one of the most accurate quarterbacks we've ever charted. In his first game against Nebraska this season, he didn't let go of a single off-target pass. Add in his rushing ability, and that's a winning combo.

+Hasn’t ever been anything other than deadly accurate in college.
+Exceptional at protecting the football. Only 18 turnover-worthy plays in his career.
+Dynamic in the running game. Can run over defensive backs and outrun linebackers.
+Consistently attacked downfield, as 69.9% of passing yards came through the air.

-Playspeed a tick slower than where you'd like. When in doubt, he holds the ball.
-Receivers run wild in Ohio State's offense. Only 54 career tight-window completions.
-Blitz recognition was an issue in 2020. His time to throw increased vs. blitz.
-He's mobile, but his accuracy suffered on the move. Won more from pocket.

on the clock

Cincinnati Bengals @JDailey23

Again. Open to moving down a few spots if someone wants to grab an elite prospect. Will keep this spot open for a few hours. Send a PM if interested.

I'll trade you Sam "Bad face" Darnold for #5. Y'all may need an upgrade from Findley in case Burrow isn't healthy.

*this offer is a joke...unless you'd do it.

from Baltimore ( @Rookie ) in exchange for: Pick #14, pick #78, 2022 3rd

The Vikings are ABSOLUTELY THRILLED to have just guaranteed Kirk Cousins' $35M SALARY FOR NOT THIS YEAR BUT NEXT YEAR. This, mixed with the best former LSU WR in the league Justin Jefferson and the significant $28M+ investment in RB Dalvin Cook leaves a mandatory requirement that the team reinvest in the offensive line following the departure of veteran Riley Reiff. Minnesota takes the opportunity to acquire a top caliber left tackle who's higher graded than the collection of offensive lineman sure to be available at 14. We're fine moving down and picking up a late 1st to perhaps also address the OL or further revamp the defense in Mike Zimmer's potential last stand as head coach.

With the 5th pick in the 2021 RCF Mock Draft the Cincinnati Bengals select:

JaMarr Chase, WR, LSU

College: LSU
Class: Jr.
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 210

Chase is a playmaker at all three levels, and he has the ability to line up at any spot, from X-iso to the slot. While his size/speed combination might not be elite on paper, his overall athletic profile is — especially when it comes to body control, acceleration and play strength. He’s a true No. 1 receiver with a chance to be one of the top five players at the position for the next decade.
This gives Burrow a true weapon to grow with and Burrow appears to be happy with the decision based on previous comments after the 2020 season.
“I’d love to play with Ja’Marr. We’re still in contact all the time. He’s a great dude and a great player. I’d love to have him on the team,” Burrow said in a January interview with Fanatics.

With the 6th pick in the 2021 RCF Mock Draft, the Miami Dolphins select...

Sewell_Rose_Bowl_SM_8_.JPG

Penei Sewell, OT Oregon
Well, this pick basically got made for me, as I was planning to pick between Sewell and Chase here and assumed one or both would be here. The Dolphins show why they continue to be one of the top front offices in the NFL, as they trade back three spots and still end up with arguably the best prospect in the draft at one of the league's most critical positions. Coupled with my Austin Jackson pick in the first round last year (a pick the Dolphins conveniently also made), this should effectively shore up the two tackle positions in Miami for years to come.

The most important thing for any team to do is protect their quarterback, and Sewell provides just about everything you want from a top-tier tackle prospect. He's big, athletic, and agile. Sewell didn't allow a single sack in 2019 over thirteen games, and didn't even allow a pressure in nine of them. He became the first true sophomore to be awarded the Outland Trophy, which is given to the best interior lineman (offensive or defensive) in college football. Sewell opted out of his 2020 season, presumably because he'd already put his dick on the table.

Sewell joins my 2020 Dolphins draft class, which featured names such as Isaiah Simmons, Justin Jefferson, Jalen Hurts, Jonathan Taylor, and the aforementioned Austin Jackson.

@Amherstcavsfan is on the clock.
