Had a couple of people interested in this in the other fantasy topic, and I figure we can probably find enough people here to fill out a league, so I'll go ahead and create one. Anyone who is interested, PM me your email and I'll send out an invite.

I currently have it set to twelve teams. I'll drop it to ten if necessary. Also, if you join now, just ignore all the score and roster settings as they are right now. I haven't edited them at all, as I figured we'd want to have a discussion about that between the people who end up joining the league. I'll also randomize the divisions once the league is filled up.

Some things to consider:
  • PPR, .5 PPR, or standard scoring
  • Do we want to include IDPs?
  • Roster size?
  • Do we want full keepers or to have some minor roster cuts at the end of the year, which bolsters the rookie/FA draft?
  • Superflex?
  • Should there be a TE premium (as in TEs get more PPR than WRs)?
  • Do we want a taxi squad?
  • If so, what players should be eligible for the taxi squad?
  • Live draft or email draft?

My personal preferences would be:
  • .5 PPR
  • Yes to IDPs.
  • At least thirty players. Possibly forty depending on how many IDPs we start.
  • Full keepers.
  • Yes to superflex, as it makes QB much more important just like in actual football.
  • Sure to TE premium. I'm thinking maybe a full PPR instead of .5 PPR for TEs?
  • I'd be down with a taxi squad. Flea Flicker, the site I'm using, doesn't fully support it, but I'm fine with personally monitoring it to ensure no one abuses the system.
  • As far as the taxi squad itself goes, I'd say rookies only.
  • Email draft for sure. It takes a lot longer, but it encourages trading and conversation and makes it all more fun.
Let me know if you're interested in joining. I'd say we keep this a free league at least for year one and, after that, we can discuss making it a paid league next summer if people are interested. Definitely fine with keeping it free, though.

Question:

What is a taxi squad?

Also, I'm pretty much good with any rules. .5 PPR is my preference anyways. I've never played IDP or a Dynasty so I'm intrigued, you have much more experience. So I'm sure you know the best way to set up a league of this sort.

Basically a taxi squad is a practice squad. Functionally, it's a place in dynasty leagues to stash rookies without taking up actual roster spots. It's good for monitoring prospects you like but can't justify an actual roster spot for. Generally, there are rules involved in how you can use the squad. Typically, once you place a rookie there, he is there until you call him up. Once you call him up, he is no longer eligible to be placed on your taxi squad (although if you trade him or cut him, another team could place him on their squad). You can demote players to your taxi squad if they are eligible, though (basically meaning they haven't already been on your team's squad).

Flea Flicker, the site I'm using, doesn't inherently support taxi squads. However, you can create IR slots and allow anyone to be placed on them and then just monitor it to make sure no one games the system. Flea Flicker has an activity log that tells you whenever any moves are made, though, so monitoring it isn't really some huge issue. We'd simply have to make a rule that, if you abuse the system, you forfeit your next game played.

I'd be open to allowing second and maybe even third year players on the taxi squad, although it creates a bit more micromanagement on my end. Probably the best way to do it would be to require owners to email or message me when they activate someone or place someone on the squad. I'll probably just keep a spreadsheet that tracks it.

As far as IDP goes, I'd probably be in favor of a relatively simplified IDP set-up. The other league I'm in starts three, DL, LB, and DB, and it's thus pretty easy to monitor. I'd probably look to set this league up the same but add a defensive flex as well that can be any of the three positions.

In, I'm fine with rookies only on taxi squad and everything you mentioned you'd prefer works fine with me.

What are you thinking about the starter breakdown?

.5ppr
IDP is fine
25-30 is good
Minor cuts like 3-5 is fine
Superflex is whatever, I'll go with consensus on that one.
TE premium at 1ppr is fine with me
In for squad, would prefer 2 years (if called up not eligible to go back down) but if it's too difficult one year is fine.
Email draft is probably easiest. We can keep a running trade dialogue itt.
I would prefer FAAB/Blind Bids instead of traditional waivers too

The only thing I'd disagree with on the scoring settings is bonus points for FG distance.

I'm thinking...

1QB
2WR
2RB
1TE
1SFLEX (QB/WR/RB/TE)
2FLEX (WR/RB/TE)
1DL
1DB
1LB
1DFLEX (DL/DB/LB)

Obviously input from everyone who joins will determine what they end up being, but this is my personal preferences. Could drop it to one regular flex and one superflex too.

I'm fine with those roster settings.

Alternatively we could do 1WR/1RB and four flex, or 2WR/1RB and three flex. Doesn't really matter to me.
Doing this is my dynasty league, so naturally I'm fine with this as well. Do you prefer Blind Bidding/FAAB over traditional waivers?

Yeah for sure on waivers. Makes it more fun. It's also more realistic. You offer a free agent more than another team and you're likely signing them in the NFL.
