RCF Dynasty Football League

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I mean, the other league here is free and people are committed to that. I'm not too worried. I think most of us try to win even when the league is free.

Fair. But Dynasty leagues take WAY more commitment then re-draft. If you have 10 guys and only 2-3 really spend the time on it, the 2-3 will win year after year. There's way less luck involved after year 1.

True. I do think that dues are something we should discuss during next spring's offseason. I think year one should be free, though. That way, everyone gets a taste of dynasty and gets committed to their teams and building them up.

Honestly, that's my favorite part of dynasty compared to re-draft. You're actually committed to the guys you draft and you want them to succeed. Trading them is increasingly tough each year because you are attached to them. They are your players. You just don't get that feeling in re-draft.

Seems like a fair compromise and I'm with you. I'd love to keep it free if everyone is committed. However, I was in a dynasty league once with my friends from college. First year was great until 4-5 guys stopped putting in as much effort. By season 3, 2-3 guys had much better teams than everyone else and those who were worse had even less incentive to get committed. By season 5 the league was done and it had a total of 2 champions in 5 years.

To jump back into the draft, I am cool with email as long as we have 8-12 hours between picks. I did one once that had 6 and had 2 or 3 autopicks because I was sleeping. If it's live I can't do 8/20 as that's the day I'm hosting my dynasty draft.

I'm not sure money would help. Either people are competitive or they aren't. If people aren't putting any effort into improving their teams, they'll be removed from the league and replaced with owners who care more.

My general plan if everyone can agree to not be a dick about it is just to not do time limits. Just try to get your pick in within a reasonable time frame and just let me know if you'll be busy as your pick is coming up. I also plan to set up either a Maizy or Group.Me forum for this league so we can easily chat via IM during the draft. You can also PM people on either of those apps, which makes trading easier both during the draft and beyond.

If we get to a point where the season is about to start and the draft isn't over yet, I will transition the last few rounds into a live draft, which I believe Flea Flicker allows. Obviously everyone will be given several days notice in this event.

Also, if someone will be unable to physically make their pick, they can message me while they are on the clock and tell me who they want and I can input the pick for them.

Another thing we could do is all chip in for MFL rather than Flea Flicker (a much more user friendly and customizable app) and that can be the "buy-in" to get people to feel like they have skin in the game without having a pot.

Just an idea.

Also, the more I think about it the more I like having a 10 team 30 player league. 25 players, 5 practice squad. Rookie drafter of 4-5 rounds every year (non snake).

@Jack Brickman do you want to do 10 or 12 teams? I've seen a couple people mention 10, and you mentioned 12 on the OP. Me personally I think the more teams the better.

If we only do 10 though, we're at capacity.

12 is better if all 12 are gonna be legit. I think 10 is probably right in our sweet spot, though.

I just sent the join info to @Rookie.

Still waiting on @Stark and @cavsfan1985 to join. No idea about @sportscoach's status, as he hasn't posted in this topic at all. We've got seven people currently signed up and at least three who have expressed interest, so that gets us to ten provided the three guys listed above sign up. That gives us enough to start the league and we've got two additional spots we can fill if there is interest.

Just send me the info! Sorry I haven't really been on this week since I haven't even been home until I crashed in bed lol

I tweaked the rosters and rules a bit to add .5 PPR for WRs and RBs and 1 PPR for TEs. These values are obviously negotiable and something we will chat about over the next week or so. The idea of these settings in addition to the superflex is to make QBs and TEs much more valuable than the afterthought they tend to be in standard scoring leagues.

For now, the rosters are set to:
1QB
1RB
1WR
1TE
1SFLEX
4FLEX
1LB
1DL
1DB
1DFLEX

35 players total (may push that to forty).

Haven't set up IR spots yet, as we need to discuss if we'll be doing a taxi squad. If so, that takes the place of IR and we won't be allowed to use IR for injured players (unless, of course, they are taxi-eligible). If not, we'll probably just have two standard IR slots.

Looks like I will have to study my defensive players more since I am not used to a league who uses individual players. I personally like new challenges so I don't mind at all.
