pip, you say that lt is the only rb who could do better, so what do you think the texans will get with bush. hes the same type of runner.
Yeah, but LT is experienced at the NFL level.. He understands the defenses, he knows where his lanes are, and his cutbacks are excellent.. Bush will be great, but it's going to take him time. Especially if he is going to be a Texan... The guy plays in the Pac10 for god sakes...Bush is a special player, no doubt, but I bet if he played in the Big 10 and faced a solid defense week in and week out, you wouldn't see so many amazing plays per game as you would in the open pac 10..
Also, I was talking about the way the teams were currently constructed as of today... I don't think you can take Reggie Bush and insert him into the Chargers backfield and get the same production out of him as you would LT present day...
Maybe eventually, but not today...
I would not want to be the Texans GM right now... This is a very delicate situation...
A. Do you take the all world Rusher that has all this hype and star potential and make the fans happy...
B. Do you trade those rights, get several picks, and improve your team at multiple postions which in the long run will help you become a winner sooner rather then later ?
Although it's not the sexier choice, I go with B.
Keep in mind, really good RB'S are easy to find... Now, HOF backs are difficult to find... But, if you build that O-line and use some of those picks to improve your defense, you can get away with having a really good RB like a Domanic Davis and you don't need a HOF Back...
The Lions were always Junk even though they had that all world RB in Barry Sanders...
Other then the Cowboys and Rams, nobody within the last 15 years had a HOF running back and won it all.. Some had really good backs... But not Hofers
Giants-(can't remember) which means he wasn't anything..
Redskins- Ernest Byner
Cowboys-Emmitt Smith HOF
49ers - Ricky Watters
Packers- Dosey Levens
Broncos- Terell Davis (Fringe, but was dominant)
Rams- Marshall Faulk HOF
Ravens- Jamal Lewis and Priest Holmes (really good, but not HOFers)
Bucaneers- Michael Pittman
Patriots - Antowain Smith, Corey Dillon...
