"Pairs of statues designed by sculptor Henry Hering and architect Frank Walker – officially named the "Guardians of Traffic"[3] – stand on pylons at each end of the viaduct, symbolizing progress in transportation"

Huh. Who knew. I'm from the Akron area, I think I've noticed those once or twice, but didn't think anything of them.

So THAT's what they are going to name the team after? Smh.... why? Other statue maker people are gonna be very VERY upset. Lack of inclusiveness....

Don't worry @MikeOC33 I've been to hundreds of games plus hundreds of other events in the Cleveland area during my 33-year life, and I hadn't heard of them until the name came up during this whole process.

I still couldn't tell you where they are as I've never noticed them in person.

Yeah, I've probably been to Cleveland, idk, 20-30 times? I know where that bridge is, been on it maybe 5-6 times, again, can't say the statues made a big impression. Seems like an odd choice (to me) to name a sports team after, but again, it really isn't that important to me.

I’m ok with it. The name doesn’t really matter to me at all.

I’m just ready to move forward and roll my eyes at the “it’s still the Jake/Chief Wahoo/Indians to me” crowd.

Didn't the Pork Chop Shop close? I loved that place...

I am not sure. Used to live within walking distance but moved right when COVID was starting and haven't been back up that way since. I'm not sure how many vendors made it through it all. It seemed like all the meat vendors had their own version of it though.

I am just upset they arent honoring my childhood by going back to the Spiders.
