They'll always be the Steelhead to me.

Watching the Indians game tonight...man, it is going to be fucking weird not seeing Indians on the home white jerseys. Attending a game next season and seeing Guardians everywhere instead of Indians is going to be really weird as well. Ugh. Gonna take some time to get used to.

As someone who is a noted long-time admirer of Chief Wahoo and the Indians name, I’m actually all for this change. Guardians can be cool. That announcement video with Tom Hanks was really well done.

Anything but that boring ass block C.

I'm kind of Meh about the Guardians but I never liked Wahoo or the Indians moniker either. So I guess this is progress and I understand the logic behind the decision and how they're going about it. It could have been worse, or it could have been better and more exciting but that would have been hard to pull off.

I'll get used to it. I would love to see the colors and the art work evolve eventually into something different.

Has anyone brought up the abbreviated version of Gardians yet?

Jason Lloyd put it this way:

The most important thing we can call Cleveland’s baseball team is winners. The more they win, the faster the new name will be embraced. I’m more concerned with the lease negotiations, the potential for a minority investor and the future payroll than I am with the franchise’s nickname....

But they still boast one of the best farm systems in all of baseball, a Cy Young winner just entering his prime and a perennial MVP candidate. The organization remains one of the best at developing pitching, the payroll will soon begin to climb again and the Guardians seem poised to contend before the Tigers, who have been rebuilding in the American League Central Division for the last five years and still have a ways to go.
