This team will never be titled the buckeyes. That prop bet hyping such was to solely take additional monies from the ridiculously dumb, and gambling tOSU fans.

It just hit me overnight; an epiphany. Forest City Baseball Club. This name is grounded in the community’s historical roots (the Cleveland Forest Citys actually preceded the Spiders) . And the name can also project to a conservation theme for the future. The FC logo could mimic Stanford’s use of letters integrated with a redwood tree. The more I think about this idea, the more it grows on me. BTW, all use of puns intended.

Forest City Baseball Club is one I wouldn't mind. I get the whole tie in to rock and roll, but The Cleveland Rocks and Rockers just doesn't sound right to me. Call them the Moondogs or something if you want to tie it into rock and roll.

I'm all in on Guardians or Forest City Baseball Club, even if urban sprawl has decimated the forest that used to surround the city
Cleveland Urban Sprawl and Cleveland White Flight are also still in play, although longlong shots
.

i didn't know what the Guardians of Traffic were until about 7 years ago either; only noticed them once I started doing Uber and started driving over that bridge. Imo, I think it's a great way to educate all the white people who know little to nothing about the city because they grew up and lived exclusively in the suburbs (ie the Tribe fanbase). I think once folks know about them, they will be more on board. This city needs more to be 'proud' of than just a burning river, the Browns and latent racism.

Did your “epiphany” occur when I suggested this name two pages ago? :chuckle:

A few days ago VP Mike Pence announced that the US Space Force will be called Guardians

I really have little idea what the US Space Force is or if it will continue under Biden. Regardless, this surely has to have some sort of effect of the Guardians as it related to the team currently, but soon to formerly, known as the Indians.

Hopefully this doesn't get political.

I think my favorite at the moment is the Cleveland Buzzards... Cleveland Vultures?

I like Buzzard. Its unique, it give to our Rock N Roll history with WMMS and Hinkley Ohio being famous for it.

I really like Buzzards now. I think that is a winner and a really cool mascot that can be similar to Chief Wahoo without being as offensive.

I like it too but don’t see it gaining traction for those too young to have listened to WMMS radio.

Cleveland Baseball Club or Cleveland Clippers are the two I'd be fine with as of now. You could seriously do something kind of cool with an old-fashioned "Baseball Club" theme.

I’m thinking the club should break some ground and lease the naming rights.

I haven’t a clue what they’re worth but if it’s worth the average MLB payroll it’s something to consider:)

I'll go with the "Cleveland Indians". If some people don't like the name... they can cheer for another team.

Cleveland Progressives. Actually not a bad idea to lease naming rights.
