ditys Shankar: What do u think about loosing 'Toine?

Ricky Davis: Any time you lose a player like Antoine, it's really tough, considering everything he brought to the table. But, you never know what plans the GM or coaches have, so they must have an idea about something. It's a tough trade though.

Pete in Boston: Hey Ricky - I heard you are holding a contest to giveaway season tickets. That's really cool - can you tell us what the deal is with it? Thanks, and good luck this season!

Ricky Davis: I'm having a thing I used to have in Cleveland, called Ricky's Renegades, where I gave tickets to my fans, my cheering section. So, I'm trying o bring back my cheering section here n Boston. I have a contest where you submit 250 words to why you are fan of mine and your suggestions for what I should call my new fan section, we'll see who can win the tickets. Submit your entrie to rickytickets@celtics.com. It's good fun and I get to give out some tickets to fans.

John (Kennebunkport, ME): Do you feel that you were overlooked last year for the sixth man award?

Ricky Davis: Yes I do. But they gave the award to Ben Gordon, who had a great year, so I can't really complain.

Blake (Boston,MA): Ricky, how do you feel about being put in a leadership role on such a young team, when your not that old yourself?

Ricky Davis: I think it's a great role, and with Antoine being traded, even though I'm 25, I'm going on my seventh year in the NBA and I think I am up for that challenge.

JM (Manila): Hey Ricky, what do you think of your rookie teammate Gerald Green, and how much of an impact do you think he can have in his first year?

Ricky Davis: I think he's a great athletic player. I only saw him a few practices and in the summer league, and we worked out together a bit in Boston, but he looked pretty good. He needs to learn, like all rookies and we do have a number of players at the two-guard, but I think he can make an impact with our team and be a part of us winning games.

Dave from Washington IA: Ricky, You are the man. I was pleased to see you in Las Vegas supporting our young guys. They played great. Talk about playing for Doc.

Ricky Davis: Playing for Doc is a great thing. He's a coach who played in the NBA and he understands the players. We had a good relationship last year, on and off the court, and he's the kind of coach that you'll run through a wall for.

anand (edison new jersey): What do you do during the offseason?

Ricky Davis: I've been working with my little brother alot, he's 17 and going to be a junior in high school. I also worked with my son alot, watching him grow, and I've also worked on my game.

Matt boston: Who can throw it down the best... you, tony allen, or Gerald Green?

Ricky Davis: Ha-ha (LOL) Ricky D! (Laughing)

p: Ricky, Who was your role model growing up and who inspired you to play basketball?

Ricky Davis: My role model was Michael Jordan and the person who inspired me was my father.

Jose (B-Town): man when i heard that u where traded to bosotn i was really excited..do u think that u have become a better player since u came to boston?

Ricky Davis: I feel I have matured, on and off the court. Being able to take on a leadership role on the team, is a help and the great coaching from Doc has been a tremendous help to me in improving my game.

billy (Worcester): Hey Ricky, you have really matured over the past two seasons here in Boston, but what I want to know is what will your role be this year. Will it be the same coming of the bench and creating a spark or will you be a starter? Good lucky Ricky.

Ricky Davis: Coming into the year, I'd like to be a starter, that is a goal of mine. Me and Paul on the wings right from the jump-ball would be great for our team I think.

Kyle (Plaistow, NH): Hey Ricky, I just read that you had an average of 16 points per game this season, how many average point per game do you hope to get this season?

Ricky Davis: You never know. When you're starting or coming off the bench, those are two different things. It depends on the minutes. I will always try and do my best and put up the numbers and help my team win from whatever role, but as for goals alot of that depends on the amount of minutes I get and that remains to be seen.

Nate (Salt Lake City): Ricky, I was curious to know what it has meant to you to play for a team with a deep basketball legacy such as the Celtics? How does that following in that fabled legacy help you prepare each night when you take the court?

Ricky Davis: I think it's a great opportunity to play for a franchise like the Celtics, who have won more championships than any other team in the league. In Boston, you're always focused on not just winning games, but winning championships and I think that's a good thing.

Frankie (Boston): Ricky how did Ryan Gomes look when u saw him workout?

Ricky Davis: Oh, Ryan Gomes looked good. He's real solid, did very well in Las Vegas. And for a guy picked in the second round, I think he will be able to help us a lot.

Chad, Beverly MA: Hey Ricky, just wanted to let you know I believe 100% you should have recieved the 6th man award. The Celtics wouldn't be where they are today without your leadership and skills you bring to this team. How would you compare your team this year to last?

Ricky Davis: Thanks, first of all, for the nice words. There's a big difference, we have a similar nucleus of guys and you just look at San Antonio and you can see how that benefits a team, to have guys you've grown playing with. I think we have a good year in our future.

Ricky Davis: Thanks to the fans for posting questions and chatting with me. Keep me in mind and keep watching the Celtics and we'll work hard to win a championship. Also, remember my contest, for the Ricky Davis cheering section and you can get some tickets (rickytickets@celtics.com).

pretty good read, thanks for the article double shot

He is a pretty good guy, had he been able to co-exist with LeBron we could have had a dangerous dangerous team. :(
