Ricky Rubio - Take the Money and Limp

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
^^^ I’ll shoot him a text

He confirms he has undergone surgery
I'm fine. I know that the recovery will be a roller coaster because I have lived through this situation before, but I take it as a different challenge. It will be necessary to get used to the body and the mind to other routines but my motivation is incredible. The challenge has changed and I accept it with enthusiasm
In addition to confirming that it has had his surgery, it also knows the recovery period. "It's the first thing I asked the doctors," he acknowledges. It will be 10 to 12 months.

The lament lasted one day. I have been injured, what can i do? You have to put things in perspective. Let us remember that we are suffering from a pandemic. I think about it as if I had been given a year to grow as a person and as a player, to come out stronger. And it is not a cliché. When a misfortune happens, you can do two things: ask yourself why, waste time in regrets, or look for solutions and take a new path.
About the trade rumours
It has its fun part. Yesterday I sent a message to my agent: "Aren't the rumors going to leave me alone even injured or what?" It is part of the business. In his day I took it worse, you feel bad because you like to give everything where you are and when you give so much and later you see, like in Phoenix or Minnesota, that they dispense with you without knowing it ... I've gotten used to it: when February approaches, rumors transfer of Ricky Rubio. It's hard. It is a business. Fans like this type of market movement, playing a general manager, video game style. But behind there are people and families. It is also true that there are exceptions. Nowitzki, for example, the entire career in Dallas
About coming back to Spain
When school starts there will be no NBA worth it. I will have to go back. I don't want to be making him dizzy from here to there. I have 3, 4, 5 years left in the NBA ... ". And he ends: "... but I would very much like to come back and play in Spain"
About vaccines
I will start by saying that I have been vaccinated and thus my position is already clear. Everyone is free not to do it but this is affecting globally. We have to trust in doing the right thing even if it scares us. Many people are dying. You have to take a step forward. I would like everyone to get vaccinated for this to end. And that hope prevails over fake news. I trust the doctors. If they ask about basketball, I will answer. If they ask about vaccines, I'll ask them

I love Ricky...

Dude had been dealt a good starting hand but got the worst fucking draw since coming into the NBA.

I admire his mindset and I wish he finds success. Hopefully with this team on a good deal next season.

he was really loving the team there.

I hope they find a way to keep working together

Quite frankly

It's tearin' up my heart when I'm with you
But when we are apart, I feel it too
And no matter what I do, I feel the pain
With or without you…

Just sayin

One of the key takeaways from this was Rubio mentioning the doctors giving him a 10-12 month recovery timeline.. If that’s the case, that would align for a beginning of next season as best case scenario and January 2023 as a worst case scenario..

I know I was one who wanted to keep Ricky around due to potential to keep him long-term, but with that schedule + any setbacks + being 32 coming off a second ACL in that knee, I’m don’t think he’s likely to be back..

I don’t want to interpret his interview, but seems resigned to the fact he’ll get traded again and hopes his next destination will be a more long-term fit for the last several years of his career..

Loved Rubio Loved his play. Loved the things he could teach Garland. But I don’t see a way he returns to us next season. With his age and this injury we can’t commit $ to him. His expiring has a lot of value imo. Hopefully we turn it in to something.
I will say garland playing with Rubio and rando the same season has to be valuable Lessons taught in very different ways

If Cavs trade Ricky before the deadline, is there a rule that stops them from signing him back for the next 365 days ?

No. The fact that his contract expires at the end of the season wipes out the usual prohibition of re-signing a guy you traded.
