I'm not sure where this should go, as Les was passionate for all Cleveland sports, (and the Buckeyes, too), but he had a particular love of baseball...

I was so sorry to hear of Les' passing today...an icon of sports talk, humor, and live read commercials. Great show! Today? Every day and always!

Was also going to post it, but had no clue where to put it.

I used to watch his show with my dad all the time as a kid. RIP.

side note: does anyone remember the old sports journalist that used to go on to his show? He’s long gone obviously. I just can’t remember his name.

Hal Lebovitz was probably the guy you were thinking about...long time PD writer/icon. He and Les were definitely tight.

Quick witted and B.S.-proof, his was the only television show that I watched for years.
His cameos on the radio were always great too.

That’s it! For whatever reason the name escaped me.

Very sad news. I have been a fan of Les way back to his radio show on WHK.
How Come Quickies were a classic. Nobody could blend an interesting sports show with humor like him.
My thoughts and prayers for his family and friends.

I had the honor of Having Les read one of my "How Come Quickies" on air a few years ago, and he even said he loved it!
Badge of honor, indeed....some even received t-shirts when the budget allowed.

For the life of me, I just can't recall! I used to have a copy of the clip with him laughing... it was most gratifying. It was maybe 5 years ago.
I've searched my emails and everything, but no luck.

Trust me, it was f'n hilarious!
Now you'll have to make us a new one...and make us laugh. No pressure...

OK, I found it. It's not really that hilarious, nor was it technically a "How Come Quickie".
Nevertheless, he was grinning madly when he read it in that day's segment.
It seemed to resonate with him somehow.

"Did the man who coined the phrase "One hit wonder" ever coin another phrase?"

(I guess you had to be there!)

Full disclosure: Somebody had asked me the question (whimsically) that very day and I stole it.
