Round 2, Pick #33 Austin Corbett, OL Nevada

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I watched and came away impressed with Myles Garret's speed. I am hoping we can draft that kid.
Heard the kid likes dinosaurs and the history of them............ hope he watched the real-life documentary the past 2 weeks starring LBJ

This was my key take-away from that article:

“Body Structure...Corbett has good bone structure, with a thick midsection, wide hips, big back, good bubble, thick thighs and calves.”

Do people realize when they are writing this stuff how incredibly sexual it sounds? Thick mid-section, thighs and calves? Most importantly — what the hell is a “good bubble”?

This is the Browns- if they get him he will end up hurt for half the year.

Got around to watching that second half this morning.. That film made me like him more. :chuckle:

Corbett was regularly driving his man into the ground. When he wasn't doing that, he was getting up the field to make lead blocks on linebackers & defensive backs. The plays where it seems like he's getting "beat" or "finessed" seemed to be designs. One in particular in the 3rd quarter made it seem like Corbett was beat bad off the edge, but the play design (dump to the back) called for allowing that pressure to get the edge defender further away from the play.

On a side note, those plays where Nevada tried to move the pocket right looked like a mess every time.

Absolutely. And a lot of cut blocks and quick throws to the flat.

You can see on film that he'll do anything.

And we all know, you should like your tackles like you like your hookers. Anything goes.

Any feedback on this cat tonight? This thread makes a mouse sound like a jackhammer

It wasn't a great performance, but it also wasn't a disaster like, say, what Drango and Coleman were doing out there. I'll watch again tomorrow but all rookies in their first preseason game are learning about the stronger and faster opposition.

He needs to be more aggressive at the point of attack. But to be honest none of our run blocking looked good and Coleman is bad.

Lots to like about Corbett in the second preseason game.

It's so fun watching the light go on for a rookie. Corbett was strong in both run blocking and pass blocking for the Tyrod drives, really moving people. In the early Mayfield drives he got caught standing around because Buffalo wasn't lining anybody in front of him, overloading the right side. New goals for week three, but when he has an assignment in the run game he knocked the opponent back.

The line looks much improved even with Zeitler out. I expect the line to look good when Zietler gets healthy, Corbett looks like a legit left guard and Botonio looks like a good LT. If those thing hold true I am not worried about our starting line, but our backup line is awful.

Shon Coleman really is a disaster. It's so much of a mental barrier for him, and at this point he has been with the franchise for three off-seasons. I don't know why he struggled picking up that end when the Bills showed safety blitz. There was nothing Baker could have done at that point. And that really started the Bills just crippling the Browns by attacking the right side.

Greg Robinson doesn't like running, but if he is asked to mirror and pass protect he seems like a playable backup tackle. His career has been plagued with weight issues, injuries, and penalties, but we haven't seen any of that yet. So it looks to me like they have one backup tackle going forward.

Drango is what he is. He is better on the right side than the left, and better at guard than tackle. He will get caught holding and he is carrying a huge spare tire around his abdomen. It would be awful to see him naked. However, he can plug in as the sixth offensive lineman.

Outside of those two guys, I agree there is a wasteland in backup offensive linemen.

Corbett looked like a completely different player in game 2 compared to the opener.

Very nice to see him made the quick adjustment.

Bitonio to my untrained eyes looks more than capable at LT.

Chris Hubbard is a massive upgrade on the right side.

Drango, Coleman and Robinson aren’t guys you want to have to rely on as starters, but it is preferable to have NFL experience on the bench in case of injury rather than late rounders or UDFAs.
