Round 3, Game 1 | Cavs @ Atlanta | May 20th, 2015 | 8:30pm EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't mind him attacking but he has to go sooner.

He dribbles the clock down to 5 seconds and then removes the option to pass. He needs to start around 10-11 seconds, so he can kick out to shooters if the defense collapses or if his drive stagnates.

They definitely did this on purpose they saw the lead, how much time was left, and basically decided to let the air out of the balloon. Not pretty but not a bad strategy with Irving hurt and the Hawks 3 point shooting. Similar to the Bulls games, teams seem to get a burst of energy when a guy goes down.

My issue is more is they should have put some wrinkles into: run Lebron off the ball, a PnR here there. They did that and that led to that Lebron hammer dunk to finish off the game

Game 2 should be a no pressure game for us. While there will be a ton of pressure on ATL. Hope that works to our favor though. It didn't work to the Bulls favor against us when they laid down in game 2, and then eventually lost the series. We still have to play with urgency, but hopefully we are more free and smooth on offense.

Teague and Schroder were getting anything they wanted, and there's not much Delly, Kyrie, or JR can do to stay with those guys. Probably Shump is the guy who has the best shot, but Blatt chose to stick him on Korver. I'm not going to argue with the results. It did seem that if we left a big inside we slowed those guys down or forced kick outs, and I'd rather live with Milsap, Horford and Antic taking late close out jumpers than Teague and Schroder hitting lay ups. They do hurt defensively and with rebounding when they're on the court together so I don't know how much the Hawks can go to that lineup.

Carroll's knee is potentially huge, judging by his reaction I think it's bad though it doesn't appear like there was a whole lot of contact. I'm guessing a hyperextended knee and out for a game or 2 the. Able to come back in some limited form is the best scenario for him. Worst case is an ACL or similar tear.

Of course, I thought lebrons ankle was bad by how it looked too but turns out he was fine. I think they did the correct thing by having him attack milsap over and over, just a few seconds earlier to open up other options off the pass would have been perfect. If Carroll is out for a prolonged period I'd expect more of the same, so it will be interesting to see how they go at milsap.

Tristan and Mozgov were huge again, they won so many possessions, and a few that don't show up in the box score beyond a team rebound or foul on a Hawk.

Kyrie showed he can shoot, he had one layup, but he's just not quite right yet, and his driving game requires him to be basically full speed. He was getting torched out there so if he wasn't bringing anything offensively, I think Blatt was right to go with Delly, whose shot has now come back down to earth.

Course that didn't matter because JR went on one of his streaks at just the right time. Let's face it, most of those were terrible shots, fadeaway off balance threes with a guy right on him. He actually missed his most open shot. He almost shoots better when defended.

The way we played, with Kyrie down some and Carroll looking iffy, we have a good shot at taking both of the away games and really putting some pressure on.

The one injury that scares me a bit is Shump, looked like he re aggravated that groin

Stop bitching. Road win in the EC finals. On a night when JR was the only role player really stepping up.

Great stuff.

Especially when an injured Irving is a roleplayer now as well. Hell it's like an offense/defense sub situation with him and Delly now as the defense was pretty bad with Irving in.

No reason to have had that game so fucking close... BUT I don't give a shit... it is a win. I just wanted this to be 1-1 heading to Cleveland.

This is great.

Also the hell was Korver doing on that dunk!? hahah

All, disagree with this ALLLLLL you want, but Reggie Miller was a great add for this round. Webber is irrelevant. Miller called that Millsap defensive breakdown about 20 minutes before the dunk happened. Not always my favorite, but at least strings together coherent shit.

JR won us game.

Game 2 on the road....I'm thinking LeBron or Kyrie is going to have win us that one.

The refs are all about extending the series. We're going to need one of our superstars to carry us home.

LeBron is gonna be LeBron. We just need to keep playing solid defense, and each game we need to have another guy step up. Game 6 it was Delly, tonight was JR. I have confidence that someone will be big the next game.

2-0...close it out in a few more and then rest. We will need it by then.

I’m pretty sure Marv Albert and Webber didn’t mention Kevin Love’s name once in the entire telecast. :chuckle:

Probably for the best. If they did it'd be about how he is going to LA (so he can win 30 games with Kobe and their young guys).

No way LeBron would let this team lay down like the Bulls did. We might not win, but we'll go down trying.

Great game 1. 3 more to go. Didn't like how we fell asleep at the end. Seems to be a reoccurring theme when up big. I hope it doesn't bite us in the ass. It was awesome to see how pumped Lebron was when they went on a run and he was on the bench. I hope Carrol is ok, but if he misses the series I won't QQ.

He can do that playing 10-15 minutes a game. If he's asked to play 25-30, LeBron is going to absolutely wear him out, foul him out or both.

Atlanta is in a lot of trouble if Carroll is done for this series. They had one good wing defender.

I'd have Kyrie guard Bazemore. Put LeBron on Teague. Keep Shump on Korver.

Have LeBron funnel Teague to Mozgov.

I actually thought Bazemore was a pretty decent shooter. And it seems like Mike Scott usually plays well against us, I'm surprised they haven't used him. They might now with Demarre out.

No he's pretty terrible shooter. If he could shoot he'd play a lot more.
