Johnathan "Jack" Conklin: All Pro RT

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Conklin is about as good of a fit as the Browns could have possibly found for this wide zone system as a run blocker. He is really good in space and he's a really athletic and powerful run blocker period.

He's nothing special as a pass blocker, pretty much middle of the pack average at that aspect of the game. But Conklin has graded out better than Hubbard who was solidly below average so that should be a decent upgrade as well.

He’s an elite pass blocker on play action. He’s below average and only slightly better than Hubbard in normal pass sets.

I'm very curious to see how much Stefanski and Van Pelt will provide help for both of the tackles in the form of double teams and chip blocks.

This is, in large part, why I think the team traded for Janovich. Neither of the tight ends are particularly good blockers, and while Hunt is too, having more than one good ancillary blocker is important for this scheme.

Man, I know Right Tackle might be one of the least glamorous positions in the NFL but how is this thread just a one pager?

I guess a testament to the old adage of lineman being good when you don't even notice forgive them much thought.

The thread title being insanely bland makes it more fitting to your remarks I suppose.

I did my best to spice it up, but damn, only so much spice you can add to a right tackle.

BEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns right tackle Jack Conklin will miss "multiple weeks" with a dislocated elbow, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday.
Conklin suffered the injury during Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had missed the previous two games with a knee injury.

Stefanski said he did not think it was season ending. Pretty surprised at that. There gotta be some nerve damage that will take awhile to heal, on top of any structural damage.
