rumor: cavs offer haslem 40M/5 years

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't see how that's possible with the Z news...

8MIL a year! Thats way too much imo. A reasonable deal for a player like Haslem should be about 6mil a year. Hope this isnt true.

yea. i hope it isnt true also. Way too much.

they could offer it if they have a deal to trade Drew for a pick and a trade exception.

No way we do this without getting a PG first..

Way too much money anyway.

I agree with Mac. The only way we are getting a PF is if we trade Drew and a throw-in for one. PG has to be next on the list.

When are we going to give Sarunas a contract come on I want this guy in a Cavalier Uniform i'm sold on him we need him and If we can't persue him due to this then Ferry is 1-3... hughes was good Z was overpaid especially if his 1st year is anything more then 8 milllion per..

This is concerning. I like Haslem and he would be a solid fit here. But the dollars are steep, and I am concerned about the space left for our point guard. I understand trading Drew for a draft pick gives us more room plus a trade exception, but it'll be tight.

I'm not sure about this either. I don't see how the Cavs have the money available to make such a big offer to Haslem. A 5 year $40 million contract means they'll have to give him almost $7 million in year 1 since they can only give 8% increases each year.

The only way this could work is if Gooden is traded for draft picks to get rid of his salary.

I like Haslem but this is probably too much money for a player of his ability. The Cavs would have to be sure that he's the right long term fit at PF to give a contract like this one.

This is a RUMOR people

Well, someone needs to display some positives to this RUMOR

Well, Haslem is only 25, his prime years are still ahead of him. He does add toughness, and a physical presence. The cost is steep but this is free agency you blimey chaps! You over pay. This will hurt miami, as they will not be able to improve their team in free agency if they match haslems offer. No damon jones for them, no other free agents. Now if miami doesn't resign haslem, they have a hole to fill at pf, and still nedding to resign damon jones.

The dollars are steep, but i believe ferry has a plan of moving drew gooden to free up cap space for our sarunas.

I'm sure Ferry wouldn't go off and use all the money on landing Haslem without some plan to nab a PG. That is, unless Gilchrist and John Lucas III showed him something that no one else saw in the summer leagues

I still think that if Ferry is serious about getting Haslem, Gooden is certain to be traded. Gooden would likely be traded for a PG if we can't land Saras. Or we could always do a S&T deal with Phoenix, sending swapping Gooden for Steven Hunter.

Ewwww why would we trade Drew for Steven Hunter gross...and we have the best shot at Sarunas he narrowed the teams to Cleveland and Indiana and made a point that he wants to start...they can't offer that with Tinsley, we can offer him the same amount of money probably more, and he can play with countryman Zydrunas and Martynas and his new buddy who we found was Varejao.
