Rumor Mill: Michael Reghi fired

Call of the Game insiders report the final two years of Cleveland Cavaliers TV play-by-play announcer Michael Reghi's contract are being bought out. FSN Ohio and the Cavaliers are replacing him with Fred McLeod, who calls Detroit Pistons games on FSN Detroit and is a sports anchor for WDIV-TV.

First of all, I would like to say that I am very upset by this news. Reghi IS THE VOICE of Cavs Televison. I don't understand this move at all, I don't want a new play by play announcer.

Reghi describes the game so well, and his enthusiasm and punch lines and quotes are not to be replaced at all.

I hope after this season, we see a fall out from this new Detroit guy and bring Reghi back on the seat where he belongs.

Outside of marv albert and maybe that guy from toronto, Reghie is the best. There is a reason you hear his calls on the calls of the day all the time. This guy keeps me entertained even if its a blowout. Are we trying to be like detroit because our owner is from detroit? I have never met anybody that hasnt liked reghies commentary, always using brilliant analogies and gets u hyped.

I cant stand Reghi, never could. He is horrible. Unless you like the brain dead announcing style.

Dont specifically remember the new guy but he has to be better.

Reghi is good buddies with Art Model another good reason for Cleveland to not have ties to Reghi.

Once people have a good announcer they will see how bad Reghi is.:thumbdown

The consensus opinion is that Reghi is one of the very best in the business. And has always been very popular and liked amongst Cleveland sports fans.

If he leaves the Cavs then the new guy will have some huge shoes to fill ...and will be greatly scrutinized.

This sucks if true - I loved listening to him call games. He is a true fan of the Cavaliers - will this guy from Detroit (whom could have a fantastic voice to call a game), be a true fan of the Cavaliers? I wonder how Scotty Williams feels about this...

Bah... this is the worst news I've heard all offseason... Reghi was solid, had a great knowledge for the game, and did play by play extremely well. He was a bonafide Cavs fan in himself.... how can we bring in this chump from Detroit and expect him to do better?

Does anyone know if this is really going down? I have to say I'll be very disappointed if this happens. Reghi has been outstanding through good and bad with the Cavaliers. His play-by-play descriptions of King James are always entertaining and he will be sorely missed if he is gone. I don't understand why they would do this. I love Dan Gilbert but this Pistons thing is going a little too far...

Seems to be consensus here, but plenty of people dislike Reghi.

If we ever get a good p by p guy here people will forget Art's buddy Reghi pretty quickly, just not a very bright guy or good at his job. People must have gotten used to him and dislike change.

A large group of fans turn off the sound and listen to Tait on the radio.
