Re:The Blue print

Great post fam, you covered the whole situation of the Cavs going forward.

Mike Redd is the most logical option in my opinion, and like you said im watching Joe Johnson and the Hawks situation very close.

With the Suns, Nash and Shaq (and Grant Hill and Raja Bell) are only going to be around (and effective) for so long, Stoudemire would be the guy that they rebuild around. When this core group is finished, Amare and Barbosa would be the guys that Phoenix keeps around for their next run.

I don't see why not. We have all our draft picks and more expirings than anyone. What did Memphis get for Gasol?(Brand, Crittenton and two first rounders). All Brand has to do is say "move me" and the Clips are kind of at his mercy. The good news is that Ferry and Brand both have the same agent...David Falk. Ferry will probably have a good idea if Brand really wants to move and whether or not he wants to play here.

Something like Varejao, Wally and some future picks might get it done.

Why would the clippers want expirings when elton brand expires anyway? Also Mark Cuban loves dirk Dirk will be a mav forever . Melo is the face of his franchise same there

i would have said the same about iverson in philly about 3 years ago...never say never, but its too soon for melo, unless he publically states 'trade me'

Meh, Cuban also stated emphatically that he wasn't going to trade Devin Harris....

A string of brutal playoff failures may be enough to break things up, but I agree, that isn't likely (but I do think there's a slim possibility). But with Iverson (or Barkley) in Philly, KG in Minn, Carter in Toronto... there's always a chance that the relationship sours and they get ready to part ways.

Anyone know the contract specifics of Linas Kleiza? He would be one hell of an addition and probably could come in as a PF off the bench. He packs a nice offensive punch.

I wonder if Josh Howard will become available ?? I don't think Dirk is a realistic possibility if they do break it down..

Good call.

He would be a good addition. Can defend and reads the offense very well. Like Boobie he knows where he should be during an offensive play. A threat from the outside too. Has the Strength, length and height to play the 4 if we want to go small.

The most realistic options are VC and Redd.. Otherwise I don't see any of those guys being available..

I wouldn't mind VC but his injury past, his current ankle problems, his age and his contract don't really tempt me enough to give up a whole lot...

Redd is the best option out there beside RJ, period.

As far as the others:

I'd love to see Elton Brand here and I'm sure Ferry would with how good our offensive threats would be--along with being a Dukie boy--but I just don't see it happening and I don't see it being realistic...

First of all, Brand will be a free agent so what will exprining contracts do? They are our biggest asset and for a guy that will already being an free agent, it doesn't make sense for the team to sign-and-trade him for expirings when they could just let him go...

Second of all, why would the Clippers trade Brand? It's not like they are in self-destruct mode or have a terrible team... They were in the playoffs last year and if it wasn't for the injuries this year, they'd probably be right back in it... If they re-sign Elton Brand, they'll have a very nice lineup and overall roster next year... With Brand, Kaman, Thornton, Maggette, Mobley, Livingston, Knight and a potential top 5 pick, they will have a nice core and some nice players... Add in a free agent signings and they could be a very good team next year... They were before the injuries and with Livingston returning, Maggette stepping up his game, Kaman doing the same, the drafting of Thornton and a top 5 pick, they'll do some damage...

As much as I would like to think Brand will be there, I doubt he will be... The Clippers have a good chance to be a good team next year I don't think Donald Sterling wants to go through a rebuilding process...

---------------------

As much as I like Tracy McGrady as a player and think he would help this team tremendously, his injury history is just way too much for me too handle... The guy is a great player and a great guy... The guy can flat out score and would be a huge boost to this team but his back, shoulder and ankle problems really worry me... With having Larry Hughes being an injury prone player, I don't think we can handle or afford another one... I'd love McGrady and his game here but it's just too big of a risk... Plus I don't even know if the Rockets will trade him especially how he played down the stretch and after Yao was injured... I think they'll want to see how they play together one more time and with some additional talent and a solid coach...

Melo, Amare, Dirk and JJ are all the faces of their respective franchises and I doubt those teams trade them away.. IF they did, it would be for good young talent or proven talent not expirings...

I'd think about AI but he's in the same boat of guys where the Nuggs would want players who can contribute now, not pieces to use to rebuild...

I think I agree with PIP here that JHo could be on the block... It looks like he was mentioned in a newspaper to maybe be on the move this summer... But with his recent comments of drug use, his decline in production, inability to stay healthy and not being too good of a shooter worries me...

If we were to offer a lot of stuff for guys like Dirk, AI, etc., I'd rather go after guys like Iggy, Granger, Ellis, etc.

I think a sleeper in all this could be Ben Gordon...

I'd still list my top 3 options like this: 1). RJ, 2). Redd, 3). Miller

I think Detroit will be broken up sometime soon, especially if they lose to Philly or Orlando. Billups, Hamilton, and Wallace may all be options, though I'm not sure what Wallace's contract is off the top of my head.
