Jose Ramirez: Keeper
Gimenez:. Keeper
Quantrill:. Keeper
Sticks: Keeper
Bieber: I'm A Belieber
Nutsac: Traaade
Civale: Traaaade
Miller: Traaaaaade
Kwan: Keeper
Hedges: Placeholder
Naylor: Keeper. Have to give bros a chance to play together
Straw: Keeper. Prototype 4th OFer at the worst, and they aren't about to get in return what he cost (useful bullpen arm, 1b Victor Martinez clone)
Palacios: Traaaaaade
Amed: I volunteer to be his Uber to the airport.
Oscar: Traaaaaaade. Jones has Wally Pipped him; doesn't have a role unless they jettison La Mole.
Jones: Keeper. Sexy, sexy, sexy keeper. Amazing the org valued him so little before this season.
Franmil: Trade, sadly :(. I can't be his Uber driver, he won't fit in my Kia.
Clement: Fire him into the Sun (no offense Ernies Uncle)

If they are a Keeper, they are The Core™.

I just think Amed could be an all-star at 2B. He can throw sidearm all he wants and it won't result in any errors.
He's a hustling, undisciplined raking machine, beloved by his team.

He's the wild-card.

You gotta have one.

Ramirez, Gimenez and Naylor are the only ones I'm not discussing in any trade. Ramirez can't be traded regardless. Everyone else can be discussed with some of them being very expensive.

No one is ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ per se but I see things very similarly. I can appreciate what Kwan, Straw, et al. bring to the table, but the harsh reality is that only 1 of the ‘contact hitter’ variety can frequent the lineup on a contending team. Maybe…mayyyybe two can start if the pitching is pretty dominant and right now, this staff is far from that level of performance.

We wouldn't really care if we had two if DH and C were producing...

I would. There's no excuse to go with an all defense/no offense player as a starter.

The thing is, this "all defense/no offense player" doesn't exist in our OF. Straw is probably about a 90 wRC+ player in a luck neutral environment. And he has been arguably the best defensive OF over the past 2 years. The biggest problems have been C and DH, and hitting LHP. I honestly think most of this outside of the LHP problem can be fixed from within the organization. But as we likely trade Amed and/or Franmil, someone will need to be added to complement a core of whatever lefties end up emerging. Even Naylor still can't hit lefties.

Off the top of my head, here's a list of players that were known primarily for their defense.
All were starters, for a long time.
None of them were better than mediocre offensively.

Paul Blair 8 GG
Mark Belanger 8 GG
Ozzie Smith 13 GG HOF

Huh? I think you’re confusing the national prospect writers and the guardians org.

The Guardians have never not valued Nolan Jones
