Series #2- Kansas City @ Cleveland. Tribe home opening series.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wick Nittgren.....one pitch.....one out.

Nick with a nice second outing and TRIBE WINS.....OOOOOOHHHHHH TRIBE WINS.....

Being critical--even irrationally so--of the organization has zero to do with someone being a fan.

Dunk on them all you want for bad takes, but questioning their fandom is a dick move.
Sorry, to the extent that such "bad takes" against the team have undermined the very well being of the organization, I'll continue to make such "moves" against said "fans." Irrationality is common with fans, of course, but persistent criticism regardless of results is evidence of animus, and we have a pandemic of it that has unfairly harmed the franchise.

I'm sorry, but my practice is limited to assessments of the mentally fragile peanut gallery, not accomplished professionals like Franmil Reyes.
Excellent to hear that you can save money on a shrink and perform self-care.

Thank you Jose.

Pretty entertaining game, really want to see what this team can bring against quality pitching.

Edit. In hindsight you know the Royal wish they gave Junis the ball for another inning or 2.

Game balls: Jose, Bieber and Clase
Tip of the cap: Josh Naylor, Andres Gimenez
Get your shit together fast: Franmil Reyes

I want Reyes to keep doing what he has been doing.

So far...and its very early...he is hitting the ball harder than he ever has, which is pretty damn hard. His hard hit percentage is over 50%. Going into today, his expected batting average was 99 points higher than his results.

His BABIP is just over half of his career number.

Be careful what you wish for.

He's hitting the ball hard, but his pitch recognition is piss poor at the moment. He's up there just guessing right now.

Clase's cutter might join Devon Williams' change up as the most unhittable pitch thrown by a reliever this season.

All major league hitters guess. You don't really think they can hit pitches with authority without a plan up there, do you? It's the heart of the game. I'm as frustrated as anyone by Reyes' poor at-bats, but I'm much more frustrated by the times he hits the ball hard and has nothing to show for it. Because poor AB's are something you have to live with in players like Reyes. Carlos Santana has many, many more "good" AB's than Franmil does, but how often has he hit the ball hard in his career with all the great counts he worked himself into? A smaller percentage than many guys who never had the kind of pitch recognition Carlos had, that's for sure.

When Franmil Reyes isn't hitting the ball hard when he does hit it, then, yes, we have a larger problem.

The Tribe's MVP and Cy Young candidates were the difference today. Congrats to Bieber for becoming the first pitcher in MLB history to strike out 24 hitters in his first two starts in two consecutive seasons. And now he's within three starts of tying the record for most consecutive starts with 8+ strikeouts.

He ran out of gas in the 7th when he walked Isper with one out and nobody on. He struck Isper out his first two at-bats.

Jose was a one-man offense today but I liked the way Naylor and Gimenez swung the bat.

We got a clue as to how Tito wants to use his bullpen; Karinchak with runners on, Clase against the meat of the batting order, and Wittgren to clean up. I love the idea of using Clase in the 8th against the Royals most dangerous hitters; Santana, Salvadore Perez, and Soler. Then Wittgren gets the bottom of the order in the 9th.

I was surprised he didn't have Luplow bat for Naylor in the 8th with two on, one out, and a lefty coming in from the pen. The Royals could not switch pitchers with the three batter rule. Naylor struck out.

Every team approaches Reyes the same way - bust him hard inside then breaking balls down and away. It's working really well so far this year.

We also let Bauers take some swings against a lefty. Thought for sure he would be PH for
