I believe the phrase goes

Size may not matter but it takes a damn long time to cross the Atlantic in a rowboat
Some appreciate a long voyage, even if in a smaller boat. I've seen polling on this...

Apparently Dolan is even cheaping out on gameday ops, appears to have an intern running the scoreboard:

There are a couple team situations that might line up with Tribe interests later in the season.

First, Tatis shoulder problem might end up being a 'discretion is the better part of valor' situation. As much as the Padres are in a win now mode, they have so much invested in Tatis for so long that they might choose to be overly cautious.

Even though they have several options at short, none really look like season long answer for a team going for the brass ring.

We have a spare shortstop.

Secondly, the Mariners were at best, a fringe playoff contender. Without Paxton, even the fringe disappears.

They have not one, but two, legit OF prospects that should be ready for a call up later this year. Which makes Haniger a possible, if not likely, trade candidate at the deadline. He has one year of control after this season. He doesn't have a stratospheric salary, and it shouldn't be too bad next year, even with a good season. (Think Cesar Hernandez 2021 salary)

It looks like we could have a real need for a very good outfield bat, if we are in contention after the break. Plus, we have more good looking youngsters, esp MIFs, than we can cram onto the 40 man.

Haniger is an affordable option. He is an improvement over Eddie, esp if you take defense into account. IF you think one of our multiple second base prospects will be ready to take over second base next year, then replacing Eddie and Hernandez with Haniger would be a savings of $8 mil.
