Sign Clay Matthews III

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I realize this is a sentimental post, but Matthews isn't a good scheme fit at all for the defense Woods wants to install. I'm going to be writing an in-depth piece for linebackers in the Woods 4-3 stack alignment, but Matthews needs to play as a 3-4 linebacker who rushes the passer.

He doesn't NEED to.

The Packers swapped him to MLB later in his time there and he fared just fine.

Turns 34 in a couple of weeks and like Keys said, he's just not a great fit for what we're going to be running here. Great player in his day though, but not a guy I'd be interested in bringing in and trying to fit into the system.

The Packers moved on from him. I didn't know losing your job is "just fine."

The only reason his name was mentioned is sentimental. We are talking about a 33 year old who is suing the last franchise he played with, who played him as a 3-4 pass rushing linebacker. It's all a huge non-starter for a team looking to develop a young core of linebackers and just let two veterans walk.

I know he would literally be restricted to being a spell linebacker, but I'd still like to see him here to retire.

For sentimental reasons as well.

He and Garrett would have the Browns leading the league in roughing the passer calls.

Go get him Berry. He would be a great veteran for our young linebackers to learn from and provide leadership for our defense. Would love to see him finish his career with the Browns.

I am guessing STP stands for Stupid Trade Proposals?

I know, not technically a trade, lol

Wait, i am 48 years old, you are saying 33 is old?

No. We need LBs not pass rushers. We have Garrett OV clayborn and Thomas. Thomas shown some flashes when given a shot. No need to add a 5th DE who can only rush the passer who’s gonna want starter money.

While Clay is an EDGE, he is undersized for the 3=4, so many reasons not to sign Clay.

That said, his dad was my favorite player of all time, so there is that reason.

I don't understand the sentiment behind signing a player just to retire here, when he never even played here in the first place.

And yes, I know his dad did. But he didn't.
