Small Forward Safari (2022-23 edition)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
RoCo, Grant (a 20M expiring in Portland), these guys are rising to the top.

Lebron can't even be traded this year because of when he signed his extension. And he isn't going to get bought out. So I think its best you drop that idea.

If you are going to bring reason and facts into this, I dont know what the hell you are doing on this board.

If we could get an asset from the Knicks, I'd take Evan Fournier off their hands for the second team...
LeVert is expiring... salaries match. Is Fourner worth the extra two years of financial commitment?

Fournier lost his job to Cam Reddish because he stopped trying outside of shooting jumpers (mostly out of rhythm because he wasnt giving effort unless he was shooting, repeat cycle)

He had given up expending effort after securing that $100m extension he signed with Orlando and he has really just been coasting down on effort ever since. Of course NY gave him a raise and 4 more years.

I would explore McDermott or Kennard for less money and more want to before I would even look down the Fournier aisle

For me its about the asset. The Knicks have plenty. If we could get a FRP for saving them money I'd do it.

I didn't think of it this way because I'm almost SURE the Knicks wouldnt use a FRP just to save money. They have two pathways to cashing in on all the assets they accumulated: 1. Big Game Hunting (trading for superstar edition) and 2. Big Game Hunting (drafting a generational superstar edition)

Their negotiations with Ainge kind of tipped their hand. They truly believe they are just a piece away from having a contending core of Randle, Brunson and Barrett (yikes) and I believe all bullets will be used to hit the target on acquiring that missing piece.

Your problem is applying logic and reason to a franchise that has shown neither since, at least, their owner bought the team...

ETA: if they aren't coming off a FRP, I don't make a trade. Fournier wouldn't be the prize, that pick would.

ETA (again): I'm trying to get you Brandon Miller, @RchfldCavRaised , so play along.

NOTED! Please proceed throughout the season, sir.

KAT has to be their guy. I'm not entirely sure how they pull it off with the pieces they have or what MIN would want, but KAT's a Leon Rose guy. Maybe Toppin, Quickley, picks, and filler money is enough.

Dallas is going to be an interesting team to watch over the course of the next month or two. They have a number of pieces that would help us and they've lost 5 of 6. The west is really bunched up right now, but they're currently the 11 seed. The '23 1st they owe to NY is top 10 protected. Wood hasn't been a great fit. A month from now they're either going to be a team looking to make a move to add talent or potentially shed money for expirings and tank.

They're a Luka "injury" from being a bottom 10 team and getting into the Wemby sweepstakes. Given Luka's still only 23, I wouldn't put anything past Cuban at this point.

I think Jason Kidd is a worse fit for that team than many are assigning blame for.

Wood doesn't play at all even though he id their 2nd best guy. Kidd doesn't like his D but they can't produce on offense without him. And he's bad but not trae tier on d

Wood's actually a guy I'd be interested in targeting with LeVert's contract. Not sure if this would interest Dallas at all, but: LeVert, Cedi, & Okoro for Wood & Hardaway is almost a dollar-for-dollar match and gets them out of Hardway's last two years.

Cavs try a different 2/3 and take a stab at a bench stretch big. I'm not sure how you make minutes work in the front court, but Wood is a good fit with either Allen or Mobley with his ability to score and stretch the floor. Maybe more of a move you make if you're considering trading Love or not resigning him, but I'd still be intrigued by the fit.

The thing I'd wonder about this particular trade is if it'd let you get away with playing Allen - Wood - Mobley together for stretches.

I was ready for Okoro and Windler for McDermott last July. The Cavs had been the other team bidding on McBuckets to drive his price up in free agency, which led to the Lauri trade.

Just get it done, I don't care if Okoro learns how to shoot under the Spurs coaches.
