So Long, David Nwaba

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We can't bring back Deng no more :(

I lived in Chicago for awhile and i would go to ever Cavs game at the United center and a handful of other games throughout the season. Deng was one of my favorite players. He was elite defensively and he was automatic from 2. He was slated originally as star because he broke out as a young player, but he didn't quite live up to franchise player. That didn't matter once Rose showed up.

Anyway, I was so hyped to have a real 3 on our team, and Deng went ahead and had the worst season of his career and he hated Cleveland and we lost the pick we sent for him. It sucked. Same thing with Spencer Hawes. What a bummer.

Both were completely miss used and could have been useful with lbj.. oh well

I wonder if Deng was really the age he claimed to be. Dude looked like a grown man at 19 and fell off a cliff at age 28. I'm not one of those people who blame anyone for Deng failing in three stops after Chicago other than the player himself. Fit in or kick rocks.

You might be right. Also, the time frame perfectly coincides with 3's basically having to shoot the 3 ball. He only had one good year from 3 I think. His game went from being relevant to anachronistic in 3 years. That happened to a lot of players.

Both sorta had their last best year the year we got them too. Bought real high

For as dysfunctional as that 2013-14 team was, Hawes arguably had the best half year of his career with the Cavs. Deng was a mess with the Cavs. But he showed in Miami for his age 29 and 30 years that he was still pretty decent when in some semblance of an offensive system. Definitely worth the modest (2 years/$20M) contract he signed with them. I think the Lakers were the only team not expecting some dropoff from that point.

Pleasantly surprised by him. For someone who i thought was basically a defensive player i was impressed.

What an athlete. Really like the way he plays D and gets after it. His rebounding is awesome, and he is much better handling the ball than I would have expected. He isn't going to generate a ton of assists, but he can definitely take it to the hoop.

Sexton, Cedi, Nwaba, Nance, Could really shut some teams water off. We are going to have some nice perimeter defensive lineups this year, and small ball is going to be tough for some teams.

Neither side would score in the 90s.

You can put Love in there. I'm not suggesting you run that lineup a ton of minutes, but it could be good at the end of the quarters with time running out.

I just think this team looks like it has way more defensive versatility than we have seen since 2015

If nobody is going to say it then I will... He reminds me of Paul Pierce! :chuckle:

Seriously though, its nice that the team is moving towards the gritty, non divas and non superstar persona... It makes them more likeable and easier to root for...

He is lightning quick. Really surprised by how savvy he seems too. I just thought he was going to look very raw.

As mentioned in the Dekker thread, if just one of these guys with a great floor game but iffy shooting catches on to what Channing and Korver are preaching with their mechanics, look out.
