So long, Kay Felder

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Most of his minutes also came after Toronto had already built up a 25 point lead in the second quarter. It's doubtful they were fully engaged/focused after that knowing they could coast there way to a win.

TLDR; a +3 in garbage blowout minutes means little to nothing, Kay had no spot here and Kay had no trade value around the league.

not saying whether he had a spot here or not.. i'm not mad he got traded.

It's clear to me that he understands the game and can find a niche in the league eventually. It's also clear that he is their best PG annd is probably going to be a fan favourite along Lauri if he gets a chance.

The guy plays at a different pace and it was good pickup for the Bulls to make that tanking year a little bit more entertaining. He clearly had some value around the league though if the bulls picked him up of waivers a day after he was waived.

I wish him luck.. I liked him. Not going to cherry pick stats just to mock his Oompa Loompa ass though.

Yeah, I have nothing personal against Kay. The Bulls are a perfect starting point for him in the same way the Kings were a good spot for IT to start. I just don't think Kay's jump shot or 3P shot will ever be close to ITs so I just think 2-9 or 3-9 shooting games are going to be the norm for him and limit his trajectory.

I agree. He is definitely going to struggle shooting, but the guy isn't a quitter. He had improved each and every season in College and to reach the NBA at that heigh requires huge mental edge.

Don't care if he is off the team.. i'll be rooting for him.

Come to think of it, isn't he a little bit like Dion, if Dion had stopped growing in middle school? :chuckle:

I watched this entire game and I disagree with your point here. Yes, he played most of his minutes after Toronto stretched the lead, but I thought he was the spark that kept it even respectable. Hoiberg definitely liked what he saw, and at one point played him a longgggg stretch in the 3rd then upto the 5:00 mark in the 4th even though Kay was clearly gassed at that point.

I thought he played well, had a couple shots literally rim out. I like the fit with Chicago for him, they need his burst and energy especially until LaVine/Dunn get back. Wouldn't shock me a bit if Hoiberg ends up starting Kay fairly soon and moving Grant to the bench.

If Hoiberg attends Bulls practices he won't be benching Grant in favor of Felder. There's a significant gap in talent between them. The Bulls are a puzzling team. I try to watch because I know somebody in the organization, but they are not easy to support right now.

I predicted Delly being benched for Brogdon very early last season. This time with the Bulls tanking it's trickier, but Bulls fans are already fond of Felder and they hate Grant.

Grant is not a PG though.. his decision making is too slow, he plays at a turtle pace, he isn't explosive enough to create scoring opportunities for his teammates and he isn't very good off the dribble. He is much more suited as a secondary guard with a ball dominant PG.

As for Felder, according to your sources he was bad in practice during his time in Cleveland?

Look, I really don't know what to tell you on this one Sir'Dom, I know you are going through some personal stuff that I wish you a lot of luck getting through. At the same time, we disagree on a number of basketball related takes. I'll say that if you want to hang your hat on Felder, be my guest. I won't be. I think he is going to be a Euroleague point guard. In the NBA he will be high usage, low efficiency, and terrible closing out on jump shooters at his height. In the Euroleague against lesser athletes, he has a role.

Harsh, man.

I love everything about you though.

I'm not sure he'd even do well in the Euroleague.

I think he'd put up some good numbers in China though.

I hope it wasn't taken that way. Side note, once I read the battle you are going through I legit felt bad for being harsh in previous hoops discussions where we didn't agree. I'm trying to extend the olive branch here... Even if I still think Felder has no NBA future.

Kay Felder is awful and has zero future in the NBA unless he's willing to mop up floors. Height killed him too much, and he doesn't have the Isaiah Thomas skillset to accommodate his physical limitations.

I hope i'm not a bad poster that gets a discount because of his mental problems. That I fear.

No need to extend an olive branch.. I thought we were fine either way. I'm not hurt or anything.

A lot of the best discussions come out of people voicing unpopular opinions. I always find your posts well thought-out and well-informed, even if I don't always agree with what you're saying.

I like what I saw from Felder tonight. The Bulls are a good situation for him at least till Dunn is healthy. He will get consistent minutes and should be able to get comfortable with the size and speed of the NBA. He looks best when he is trying to set up other guys. Definitely needs to become a more effective shooter and finishing at the rim.

I feel like he could have given us spot minutes this season if we didn't give Calderon that guaranteed contract. I always thought it could have help the team in general to get use to playing with a small PG till Thomas came back.
